There is nothing on the other side of the wall (in the hallway) but i think its going to start pushing my bugdet if i start moving doors etc.

I have moved the dishwasher to the end of the units now near the door which will free up some space around the oven area.

I think thanks to the brill ppl on this forum im getting close to the finish, just going to sort the appliances now :D

its worth getting a quote in to see how much it would cost to move the door.

youve already said that theyve got to cut a channel in the floor to get the fridge plumbed in, that will be costing something.

yep definitely worth asking a builder round for a free quote. If it's not a supporting wall i'd be expecting to pay less than a couple of hundred (materials and labour). If it's supporting it may be much more. If the ceiling joists are running parallel to the wall in question it's quite likely it won't be supporting - though still get it checked out! By all means ditch the eye-level oven i suggested if it's not on your wants list..but you've got a few options of what to stick down that wall if you do go with the U-shape plan.
  • Here is latest design, we will call this "Kitchen mk1034" :P

Looks ok to me ... except I would have kept the pan drawers either side of the oven ... much easier to use than a cupboard under a drawer. And I wouldn't have the single wall unit in the corner, I'd have a smaller one facing into the room ... or some open shelves of some sort (maybe not IKEA ones).

  • Yer ideally i would have open shelfing in the corner where the cupboard is but the only 1's ikea do are white :( Suppose i could hunt around for something that looked similar in colour.

Run into another problem now, forgot to change the height of the room! floor to ceiling is 233cm, the high larder units with plinth are 233cm.

looks like i will have to go for a smaller larder unit (211cm) and not have the cabinet above :(

wall unit to right of sink - leave that out, you cant use it that way, as you wont be able to get into it, & it just looks odd

wall corner to left of sink - is there space to put a proper corner unit in, one of the ones with the 45degree door on it? (ikea kitchen planner FA306)

dishwasher seems to be jumping about a bit, is it going in the corner, or to the left of the sink?
if its in the corner, as in your 1st image, how about swapping the drainer side of the sink, so the drainer is to the right of the sink, giving more worktop space to the left.
  • No there is not quite enough room in the corners for a unit, 50cm 1 side and 56cm the other :(

The dishwasher is going near the door, i just forgot to move it before taking the other screen shots.

Depends on the size of the fridge-freezer - you might be able to use a 920 x 300 wall unit with no shelves and buy the lift-up hinges separately.

Yep could if stupid ikea sold them :( 400 is all they sell. * edit i see what you mean now, wonder if i can get the hinges separate.

Starting to think that ikea might not be the solution. My kitchen is not very big and there lack of different sizes is restricting what i can do
  • I'd get it put through Howdens for a price and plan and see how that comes out. Are you fitting it yourself or using someone who might have an account with Howdens?
