I don't know if this helps at all (it was only very quick and I've guessed the measurements):

I prefer units around a fridge-freezer ... for most kitchens ... stops it looking like an unrelated add-on to the kitchen.

I'd agree that the fridge-freezer and base units come too close together in your original plan ... although putting the fridge-freezer on the other wall will make the room look smaller.

Are you having an electric hob? Wall units look too close together for a gas one. I've shown two 500 wall units either side of the hob and a 400 one in the corner (IKEA don't do 1000 wall units) ... and I've guessed that they're 920 high.

I think the drawer to the right of the sink is a good idea - and I wouldn't bother with false drawer lines.

No point in going to B&Q for a plan ... they don't use the same size units as IKEA.

Ask 5 kitchen designers for a plan for your kitchen and you'll get 5 different plans!

  • Yes i do like my corner shelf but ikea only do it in white :(

And the only thing i 100% want is an american fridge. The rest of the kitchen is fairly the same apart from that. Small change to design here.

    No ! No ! :D

Breakfast bar area looks like a cave.
Put the fridge freezer into corner .

But the fridge door will foul on the rad  so put a narrow wine rack into corner
    , fridge door misses rad.

I like the ad , on tv , which says take the user likes into the design.

How do you use the kitchen

Do you require more cupboards ?

Why have you got a cupboard above the freezer hard to reach i would off thought?
2nd in the over head view between the window and door could you not put a corner wall unit there?
    Just a thought Niall

Oh dear..i was just going to ask do you actually need the american fridge! I guess that's a no i can't remove it then! :D

I'm trying to think out of the box of the designs already presented to us to see if there's alternative arrangements as so far apart from the fridge moving about we've only really refined the design you've already given us.

It occurred to me that something we originally wanted in our kitchen and had to sacrifice was an eye-level oven. Now what i'm wondering is whether this would be one of your preferred criteria too and if so how/where could it be fitted in and you could incorporate a microwave into it. Perhaps creating an island for the hob or moving a door.

Where do the 3 doors lead to? I see the one on the current oven wall is an external one (so i'd scrap the reversal of hinges as i'd assumed before was internal door). Any possibility of relocating the one at the window end on the current fridge wall? I know it sounds messy but it might not have occurred to you before.
Presumably the only 2 external walls are the one with the oven on at moment and the window wall?

Everything in a kitchen is a matter of priorities ... and budget!

If the seating area is important ... and the budget will stretch ... then use IKEA's bespoke worktop for a curved seating area - with three of their support legs (looks nicer than one). Gives you extra worktop at the back, too, for stuff like radios/toasters etc.
Move the oven down towards the sink, so that anyone working at the hob isn't directly by the seating area. Much nicer for sitting in the kitchen ... but less good if two of you are working in the kitchen (one at the sink and one at the hob) - too cramped.

Tbh we don't really sit to much in the kitchen, maybe for breakfast but that's it.

I have just about got your idea info the ikea thing. Just out of interest how mush would it cost to have that design done?(the first 1) I live in leicester so not far away from you.Pm me if possible

so the corner door on the long wall is an external door
the door on the opposite corner is to ?
& whats the door next to the external door going to?

would you think of changing the radiator, maybe go for a vertical 'designer' one, so it takes up less space on the wall?

an issue with ikea kitchen cupboards:
they dont have the usual spacing at the back for utilities, ie. pipes
youll have to have a word with a kitchen fitter about what to do about that
  • The corner door to the right is a outside door and the 1 on the wall where the rad is goes into the dinning room
