Thanks Scooby - glad i'm not the only one. It's nice to know that other people have just started the challenge too so i don't feel as if i'm playing catch-up quite so much.
To everyone taking part in the challenge, just to get some ideas, where does your money for the 10K challenge come from? Is it from your normal work pay each month or is it from doing extra things like taking on extra work or doing a bit of ebaying etc?Mortgage - £105,5000 -

Claire Im definitely going to use your idea of mini-challenges, thanks hun :A. I go on holiday at the end of april for a few days and my aim is to raise at least £150 but hopefully £200 in spending money, I already have £30 winding its way from paypal so only £170 left!
Glad this thread is picking up a bit more now cos Its my favourite and the most motivational

Np problem;) I always use a mini challenge if only for the fact that it encourages me to list things on ebay when I'm aiming for a figure!
A holiday is a great target- a couple of years ago I paid for a week abroad and some of my spending money with ebay takings. Are you going anywhere nice?
I MUST start listing again!0 -

Mine comes from mine and OH's salaries - depressing really when you see how much I'm paying out per month!

My money comes from my wages each month. I pay whatever I can straightaway at payday then I ebay the stuff I've decluttered from my wardrobe to keep me going till next payday. I also do a bit of freelance work for my old bosses, which doesn't pay much, but brings in about £160 every three months. Morning All
I haven't posted on this thread for a long time. Things were going fairly well with aim of saving £10k this year, but along comes a spanner in the works - OH's car sounds and drives terrible. As its over 10 years old and after a lot of discussion we have decided to opt for one of the cheapest small NEW cars . Have put deposit on a Fiat Panda which is on offer at £6,995 for next model up from basic model and traded in our old banger for £700. so £6300 for a new car with 3 years warrantee, servicing, no MOTs for 3 years, 1 year's AA breakdown cover and best of all its really fuel efficient and only £35 tax/year:j.
SORRY for boring you all with car details. Financing it with 0% credit card.
So - the £10k will obviously be near on impossible to get anywhere near.
BUT please can I stay on as I'd still love to try hardest to see how much we can save.
On this note, does anyone have any ideas for a 9 year old boy's party. DS1 is 9 in 2 weeks time and I suggested a swim party with a few friends and home cinema after - as swimming for kids is free) but he wants to go to a theme park or tobogganing, which is obviously a LOT more expensive.
Also DS3's birthday next week, he'll be 3. He has so many toys handed down from his brothers, I'm in 2 minds whether he needs anything at all.
I don't want to be mean, but our house is brimming with toddler toys.
All suggestions really gratefully received.
