Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Munday16th November. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Morning.
Could not believe that no one had started this today.... Windy here and wet as usual. I have the day off, so I am going to do some job about the place. I have to box in some pipes at my neighbours house this morning and clean the chicken house out, so should keep me busy for some of the day. I have to tackle decorating the dining room at some point this week too.
I see England lost at everything this weekend. Cricket and 2 types of rugby as well as football.
Free listing day on e-bay was great yesterday, listed a few things and paid nothing.
Well, hope everyone has a good day.

Cheers

    Morning all

Monday morning again already, where does the time go? Had a reasonably quiet weekend, but did get lots of jobs done, washing, drying and ironing pretty much up to date. Housework done also and did manage to make HM loaf yesterday and some hob nobs for lunchboxes. Went out to my parents yesterday for lunch as we are not all going to be able to get together a Xmas so was very nice to see both my sisters, their families and my brother was there also which I hadn't expected. Have done a menu plan for this week so will have to wait and see how it pans out, shouldn't need to spend anymore money?!

Don't really have anything else to add, keep safe and well everyone, and hugs to those that need them.

  • Morning people,

I'm awake early today as MrS is on an early shift and I guess I may as well practice for getting up early on Wednesday for work.

It's raining here so I shan't be dong much, I had planned on scrubbing the yard down and tidying the garden but that's out now. As I was hoping to get outside I did all my ironing and most of the other chores last night so I haven't really got much to do today. I quite like that feeling :T

I suppose I could hoover upstairs and give the bathroom a quick swish but I don't need to do anything more. I might take some time to look through my food magazines and cook books and find some new meals and something tasty to bake. I've got a years worth of Delicious and Good Food and I never really look through them other than when they fall through the door. I wont be renewing my subscriptions for this reason.

MrS has an interview this afternoon for a job he'd like although as his current firm has given him a payrise he says he'd be happy to stay so although I shall cross my fingers, I shant do it too tightly. Another nice feeling. :j

I spoke to my dad last night who says that they aren't doing Christmas this year and not to buy him or my step mum anything. That'd be great if I hadn't already sorted their gifts. So now I don't know whether to give them their gifts anyway (but that might cause them to feel embarrassed) or to not bother and wrap their gifts for others. I have only spent around £10 on each but their gifts look like they're worth more as I've sought out bargains.

Breakfast today - Porridge with banana and nuts
Lunch - Hm ham and pea soup with hm brown bread
Dinner - Lamb chops, jacket potatoes and vegetables
  • Good Morning

Wet & miserable here again too.

Have a ginormous to do list in the office today - feeling quite overwhelmed but hopefully that will go when I actually make a start. At the moment doing free bingo (yawn) have also signed OH up to it.

Cleared most of the ironing yesterday only a little pile left so aim to get that done after escaping from the office.

Not too much OS today Im afraid. Need to menu plan but I do know we are having Ikea meatballs tonight.

Have a good Monday (((hugs))) if needed.

    Morning everyone.

Good lord how bad is the rain?!!!
H got in from hospital around 1am last night. CT scan was clear for FIL's head and he's no spinal injuries. They were going to send him home with BIL as he can stay with him. He's going to feel really rough today poor sod.
We still aren't quite sure how things happened but the car that hit him managed to overturn  Not sure if it rolled after clipping him or whether he was actually hit by the rolling car. Sounds as though he's very lucky to walk away from the accident like he did. He's in his early 70's so I reckon this is going to knock him for six for a long while.

Anyway OS today will be starting my cleaning, so many days out of the house last week it's screaming for a duster :o So I will tackle one room at a time and see how I get on.
I'd like to get some baking done but not sure if I will have time yet.
Tea should have been sausage and lentil hot pot but not been organised so think we'll have baked fish tonight instead.

Hugs to those that need them today. Wrap up warm and hope you all don't drown in the wet

Have a good day OS or not.

its peeing it down today , yuck , I'm up early as i have the council coming round to replace a tank in the loft , so at least i wil be indoors for most of the day ,
not sure if i will be without water today , but i guess i can always put a bucket outside to collect it :rotfl:
It really depends how smoothly the tank saga goes , which will determine my day

DH brought me some tea and just about to get ready to go to the Warfarin clinic this morning.

Have been shopping online over the last couple of days for Christmas presents as I don't think I will be up to any real life shopping for quite a while.

Got pjs from LaSenza for a couple of DDs, some books and dvds and will keep an eye out for nice cosmetics.

One DD would like a nice vanity case or a really pretty jewellery box but can't narrow down what she likes.

DH made enough hotpot yesterday to feed us for days but I might have something like fish instead that is easier to digest.

Your poor FIL:eek: it sounds horrific for him and hope he feels better soon.

    Sunflower

If it were me I would wrap and label the gifts in gold or silver (not Christmas) paper and keep it for their birthday. If they change their mind about presents then it is wrapped anyway.

    Morning All,

What rotten weather again! Feel a bit sorry for DH this morning as he spent ages yesterday cleaning and polishing the car and now it's soaking wet again

Have had quite a busy weekend as it goes. Went shopping with Mum on Saturday as the storm keep 90% of people in their houses so we zipped around, got lots of Christmas shopping, treated ourselves to a cup of tea and a cheese scone and were home by 1o'clock! Also made some jam on Saturday afternoon - never done it before but it's set (didn't think it was going to!) and it tastes lovely!!

Tea on a Monday is invariably bubble and squeak - it's the law in our house even more so now living with my parents!

Sunflower - I'd wrap your Dad and Step-Mum's pressies in case they change their minds and if not, give them to them for their birthdays.

Bitsy - your poor FIL!!! Sounds like he is lucky to be alive  Hope he recovers soon xx

Elona - hope you are feeling better

Have a good day, hugs in abundance xx
