Like I said, its badly designed inside (I think) & if you put a couple of bulky things in, its full. The MSE answer would be to hand wash those few:o
Don't know about the washing machine, I guess I do about 5 (maybe 6) loads per week & DD prob does 2 or 3.
Thats less than two loads a day, whats normal.
Two loads per week. At most. Unless there are more than three of you.
And not using the dishwasher will not use much less power (allegedly).
£15 per week when you have four televisions and include cooking (which others have not mentioned) is not expensive. There is plenty of scope and room for savings, but it is not a crazy sum.0 -
Aside from cutting back on your consumption as has been advised here, Take a look at your tarriff and supplier. Ask your supplier for your annual consumption and the name of your tarriff (if you do not know it) and plug it into a consumer focus accredited comparrison site, and assuming there's better tarriffs for you make the switch and reduce the value of your current consumption.
Moving back to your consumption for a moment: i've done a few calculations for you to give a bit of an idea on costs for the usage if you've described.
Cooker (3KW rating) - 34p per hour (assuming 1 hr per day = £2.39 per week
Fridge (100w rating) - 2p per hour (£3.06 per week)
Washer (2.5KW Rating) - 28p per hour (assuming 5 hrs per week = £1.42)
Dryer (3.5KW Rating) - 40p per hour (assuming 5 hours per week = £1.99)
Dishwasher (2.5KW Rating) - 28p per hour (assuming 14 hours per week = £3.98)
large plasma (1.5KW Rating) - 17p per hour (assuming 20 hours per week = £3.41)
Monitors (500w Rating) - 6p per hour (assuming 10 hours = 60p per week)
Shower (10.5KW Rating) - £1.19 per hour (assume 1 hr per week = £1.19)
The figures i've used for this are based uponw hat you've provided in your posts and a few assumptions on applaince ratings and usage, but I hope at least it gives you a bit of an idea.0 -

FWIW I do 3 half loads of clothes per week, 1 load of towels and a load of bedding every other week.

The shower is probably the the reason then. I probably spend 10 minutes in there & thats at least 7 times a week, sometimes more. DD stays at her BFs 3 nights a week, but when shes here, hes here, so thats more showers. DH is a minger who has one every second day:o Except in summer.0 -
My bed is superking. The bottom sheet, the duvet cover & 2 pillow cases is one FULL (to the max) wash. DD had a king size - same again thats another full wash. Towels (I have a love for giant thick bath sheets, with hair towls & bath mats & flannels thats another. Theres 3 on sheets & towels alone.
But do they all need washing every week? (Not saying that you shouldn't - just that you'll have to expect it to cost you!)
Even allowing for this that's 4/6 loads a week just for clothes!0 -

I've always washed them weekly - plus they are all white
I do a black, a white, a jumper & if I have lots a mid colour wash per week.
DD does a little less, but the same, black, white & maybe a wool/delicate.
It all adds up.0 -

Get in touch with your supplier's energy efficency team is they have one and look into methods of reducing consmption. No one suggestion will offer a drastic reduction, but cumulatively it'll add up and you should see a sizable reduction in your energy payments, as would a better tarriff.
I've seen reductions as high as 30% where consumers have implemented these two things. Might be worth a shot! (assuming the same level of reduction you're looking at a potential annual saving of £250.00)0 -
