  • Michael O'Leary (Ryanair CEO) has allegedly been in talks with BAA Glasgow Airport (Globespans main hub) for months he has not signed any agreement to move Ryanair from Prestwick to Glasgow yet as he is waiting for the demise of Globespan knowing that he will then have Glasgow begging for his business!!

If Ryanair wanted to be in Glasgow, I highly doubt Globespan would be a factor. Especially if the situation at GSM is as bad as the current press reports. O'Learey would have been there already helping finish Globespan off! He wouldn't need to wait for an opening.

Ryanair keep threatening to operate from Cardiff and have made discussions to that end. However, its less a case of wanting to put 737's onto Welsh tarmac, more a case of focussing the minds of Bristol's managers when it comes to negotiating!

Reported to be going into administration this evening. PWC have been appointed, future flights presumably cancelled

I feel really sorry for their staff, I know many personally and they are a great bunch. They have been let down by their CEO and directors.

Tom Dalrymple will still be living in his big house and driving his flash cars whilst the staff have a very bleak Christmas and start to 2010.

It is also very bad news for Prestwick Airport as Ryanair will now get the deal from Glasgow Airport that they have been waiting for and gradually withdraw from Prestwick.

Shame really - I liked flyGlobespan.

    Good routes and good staff.

    Means nothing these days.

Another nail in Scotland's transport infrastructure coffin
We all evolve - get on with it
  • Booked a package holiday with them for October, 2010 to attend a wedding. There's about 30 to 40 of us going and most have booked with Globespan. Some flights only and some packages. Very sad news indeed. Paid on my Visa Debit card.:o
    If I had known then what I know now . . .

I think sometimes you can get money back when its a Visa debit card ,unfortunately mine isn't.Worth a try.
Also packages are different to flight only.
We need to contact travel insurance, bank, card issuer and ATOL (for packages)
