I've just bought my husband a PS3 game throught the Nectar site for 8000 points (equivalent to £40) - the cheapest I've seen this game is £36, so I didn't think that was a bad deal really. Have also ordered myself a magazine subscription for 6,330 points (or £32-ish), saving £10 on the usual subscription price (or around £30 compared to buying each issue individually).

I only realised recently that you could get Nectar points through Amazon, etc, so I've been making sure to go through the Nectar site for any online Christmas shopping this year.

The DVD's, CD's and games off nectar are through CD Wow which is a shame really becasue they are not as cheap as amazon or play (who could supply nectar) so we have to pay the points equivalent of what there prices are.... I have found that it is usually cheaper to buy these products with points in Sainsbury's rather than through nectar as Sainsbury's prices are usually better than CD Wow's, especially on DVD's

Or, as has been said before, use the points in Sainsbury's on something that you would have bought anyway then use the money that you would have spent anyway to get what you want from Amazon, etc.

Assuming you buy things at Sainsbury's from time to time, it is only worth considering any deal if you get a better return than £2.50 for 500 points.

That is just the same as that game is obviously something big5 was 'going to buy anyway' as you say, becasue she bought it as a gift!

I use mine at Sainsburys to buy the gift vouchers that they sell for other stores - e.g. £20 nectar points becomes a £20 Next voucher etc. TBH I do this after I've spent far too much in the Next VIP sale. It helps to assuage the guilt!

I have exchanged my nectar points once for a Debenhams card, and one for Toni and Guy.

The bigger stores tend to have quite a good selection of Gift cards, covering many retailers.

I'm not sure that's right xannus because big5 has paid £4 extra for the game, whereas if she'd done what JimtheWig suggests, then she'd have saved that £4.

I've got over 20,000 Nectar points saved up over a couple of years on weekly Sainsbury's shops that I'm now looking to use and I've reluctantly reached the conclusion that I may as well just take them off future Sainsbury's spends. Makes me very envious to see the Tesco points threads as I could go on a super dooper holiday if they were worth 4 x face value like the Tesco ones are.

I know it's naughty but I'm considering spendng them in Argos and then going and doing a Sainsbury's shop immediately afterwards, so I get double value!

Thats why I said it's a shame its CD Wow who supply them becasue most games are around £30 at most places but hey, people shop for years at Sainsbury's and like you said, are reluctant to just spend them there again, so some people just order a treat for themselves through nectar because it feels more satisfying that way..I've done it b4 but probly won't again

I shop at Tesco but had enough points for £22.50 of Sainsburys vouchers. I've ordered them and will spend them on yummy things for christmas.

I couldn't see the point of hanging on to them and only occasionally picking up more points as the "cost" of things on the Nectar website is likely to increase quicker than I can collect the points. Also Tesco's point system is better and I get more of them as I buy all my petrol there too.
