What's the best way to use nectar points ?

I have set up a child trust fund for my son through Nectar. It means that for every 1000 points I redeem he will get £5. My mum also adds her points into his trust fund.......lucky boy is going to be better off than all of us by the time he is 18!!!!!

You can use 1000 points to go to a Vue cinema. Good on Orange Wednesday.

Just be careful with those wonderful offers Nectar send you for things to buy with your Nectar points. I got interested when I got an email about buying the old iPod nano 4gb for whatever number of points. Had a look round at the best prices I could find, and found that for the same number of points, I ended up buying the 8gb one from Argos! Just don't take their bargains at face value.

"Buying" things on the Nectar website with your points seems very poor value.

There does not seem to be anything better that the £2.50 for 500 points conversion when you "spend" them at Sainsburys or Argos.

You can get Amazon vouchers with Nectar points now. At 4300 points for a £20 voucher it's a worse deal than at Argos but I'd rather buy from Amazon as the postage and customer service is so much better. Let's just see how quickly the vouchers come :rolleyes:

You can spend points at alton towers and it's only 4800 points for an adult ticket so that makes it less than £25 and it's £36 on the gate! Oh and childrens tickets are 3600 points so it's a really cheap day out

My vouchers arrived and have already been spent! The Sylvanain Applewood Market my girls wanted for Xmas has only cost me £30. I'm very happy :j
Much easier and cheaper getting from it Amazon rather than trekking into town to go to Argos and getting my card swiped to spend points.

I presume that you often shop at Sainsbury's to have this quantity of points.
Why not do as arsenalboy suggested and spend the points at Sainsbury's on stuff you would have bought anyway and use the cash saved to buy what you want from Amazon?

I agree that Nectar points are not as good as Tesco..

But I occasionaly shop there and also I shop a lot at Amazon - so I have a card to collect points.

Last month I sent hubby to Argos to buy shelves and gave him the card and told him "ask them to deduct as many points as they can for the shelves".

He came home completely confused - he said he asked for 2 shelves and gave them the card and they gave him a penny change (while he gave them no money) and 3 shelves and off you go!!:rotfl:

I was laughing myself stupid, because he had no idea the points are like money and Argos had special offer "buy two get third free". You should have seen his face when he came home!!:rotfl:
