Windows 7 changes little in my opinion. It's an OK operating system, but it's basically a Vista service pack. Vista isn't as awful now as when it was first released, and Windows 7 is certainly an evolutionary upgrade (as is Mac OS X 10.6).

This chart sums it all up neatly:

As far as I'm aware, the RTM of Windows 7 doesn't support EFI.
However apple do like the dictatorship they have,

    Hardly a dictatorship.

    It's called a "corporation".
No apple are to blame for making it difficult.

Apple are certainly the ones who decided to use the modern EFI instead of the ancient BIOS.

I guess they got the memo that it's not the 1980s any more.
No its not, it a dictatorship and osx isn't worth the overpriced hardware.

    Again, it's not a dictatorship.
Win 7 dispite what you want it to be isnt a vista service pack

    Yes it is.
    and I'm speaking from experience.

So am I. I have it running here on two PCs, one of which has had it installed for the past 6 months or so. The other one was installed over the top of Ubuntu (Windows 7 is much better than it, isn't it?).

You just mentioned it as a major good point about apple:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: now you dont know anything about it.

    Sorry, you've lost me.

2 sounds like apple to me.

If it aint broke dont fix it???
    Yes it is.

I love playground arguments:rolleyes:, so no it isnt.

I tend to think if it was a service pack m$ might just have named it vista sp3???? Just a guess. I'm pretty sure it says windows 7 though.

Seriously though we both know that linux blows osx (which is just bsd with eyecandy) and windows out the water.
    Sorry, you've lost me.

I dont think thats particularly hard but I'll give you a clue: read your posts.

That makes it true then, glad we cleared that up. I didn't know pictures of leopards make better OSs:rolleyes:

Actually, Windows has included support for EFI for a very long time in the server editions as far back as Windows 2000. Support in client versions was included with Vista SP1 and now also Windows 7.
Apple are certainly the ones who decided to use the modern EFI instead of the ancient BIOS.

I guess they got the memo that it's not the 1980s any more.

Until the majority of computer users are using a 64 bit platform, BIOS will still be the best solution to the problem.

The OP's question was answered two pages ago and put to bed by ifc321.

So, then, in the long tradition of this sub-forum, it becomes playtime in the kindergarten for Marty J and asininity on the tail of the thread.

No harm done: they never hi-jack one until the OP's question has been resolved.

But, hey! Lay off me: I haven't posted any pictures to this one.

    Yet.

Still, since anewhope's joined the party, here's the one he keeps over his bed.

    And as for dictatorships...

Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:

As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

    BillScarab,

You might find this interesting. There's a tremendous and growing momentum behind it.

(Do you, perchance, live in Redmond? ;) )

Yes, that is interesting. But as I said I was surprised as I know two school governors, one of whom is reponsible for IT and neither of their schools use Macs. Also the school my children goes to doesn't. None of the local secondary schools seem to either.

Perhaps certain LEAs are keener on Macs than others.

It seems from that report that Apple are adopting the Jesuits principles.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die
