the OP is never going to get out of this....you were speeding at that is (rightly or wrongly) deemed dangerous and illegal in this country - saying that you did so why distracted by your chocking child is not going to help your case IMO!0

I would use the tactic of once you receive the NIP of writing back to the issuing constabulary and asking for the photographic evidence as you are unsure of who was driving the vehicle at the time. Quite possibly more than one person drives the car and it could be quite reasonably argued that you do not know who was driving as x hrs on y day etc.
The system would grind to a halt if everyone who received an NIP in the post were to contest it in this way. A large percentage of cameras are placed not at accident balckspots as we are lead to believe, but at financially lucrative spots.
I agree totally with Unicorn, the magistrates courts are part of the scam and part of the system. Any motorist who ends up in a mgistrates court is automatically guilty and you have very little chance of 'getting off'.
Anyone who cares to PM me with an email address I will send them a copy of the Association of Chief Police Officers Code of Practice for Operational Use of Road Policing Enforcement Technology which is a very comprehensive document giving precise protocols that have to be followed following an alledged speeding offence. A lot of constabularies (ergo police officers) do not follow this documentary procedure as they rely on the majority of alledged offenders rolling over, playing dead and sending their driving licences and £60 without a second thought.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

Having thought about the OP a little longer, I think you should have stopped immediately rather than leeting your child choke for a while.

be advised that some people on this thread are asking you to commit a VERY serious offence that people on other internet forums have been nicked for after they discussed these very issues and acted on them.0

AIUI the ACPO code of practice is only a guideline and any transgression of it is no defense whatsoever to potentially inaccurate or illegally gathered evidenceSo many posts, so little sense0 -
3 points for a win....deserved in this case as you were speeding.
Still wondering how people can't spell words containing only 5 letters.0 -

YOU broke the law, so why shouldn't YOU pay up? I personally have been caught for speeding twice. I was breaking the law, so I paid up. The last time I was caught was in May 2003, so in 10 months my licence will be clear of points.
Since then, I have NEVER intentionally sped. Of course, there are occasions where I find myself going a couple of miles over the speed limit unintentionally but I always ease off. Even on the motorway I refuse to go above 70 miles an hour.
I can only imagine that someone who has been caught six times in five years has no regards for anyone on the road, least of all themselves, and that they have not witnessed, or experienced, the horrible effects that a death of a loved one caused by a speeding driver can have on those left behind.
I have, and eight months later, it hasn't got any easier.
Even if you "only" kill (or seriously injure) yourself, do you not think about the effect it would have on your family?
I just do not understand why people are proud off "getting off" a speeding fine. I bet you wouldn't be so proud if you killed someone.
Returning to the OP's query, I believe that her circumstances were extremely "special" (for want of a better word) and that a punishment shouldn't be given out. I wish her the best in getting it sorted.
Thats a very trite black and white attitude, If I had been taken to court and prosecuted for my "crime" then I would have pleaded guilty paid the fine and taken the points, however, when the police send me an NIP that is basically asking me to incriminate myself then I have no intention of making life easy for them, the police really need "the little man" to just go along with what they ask like good little puppies, I'm not like that, we are all different.
As for the henious crime that I commited, all my offences were commited in the same place (a mobile van sometimes on a bridge M4 southwales bridgend) and all between 72-76 MPH in a brand new Jeep in clear dry conditions on an empty motorway on a Sunday! I have been driving since 1987 and have NEVER had an accident. So, to summarise, the system is a cash cow for the authorites and more fool you if you play the game their way.
I *DO* support speed cameras that are placed near schools and accident blackspots as I *DO* think that they save lives, however mobile vans operated by local authorities as a revenue earner and placed in safe areas are a joke, I'm sorry for your 6 points and £120 in fines plus the added insurance costs you recieve, but when I look at my clean licence I feel justified.
In relation to your comment about "even if I just injure myself," I drive a 3 ton Jeep with bull bars so I should be pretty safe, but thanks for the concern.

Hank, is that the Pencoed junction of the M4? What amazes me by your comment, is that you have been caught at the same spot on numerous occasions. Haven't you thought of slowing down for this stretch of road?0 -
Shouldn't need to slow doen from 72-76mph on a motorway. Maybe its the size of the digression from posted speed limits that causes the Police to see sense. They probably wouldn't want the embarrassment of taking hank to court.
