Kitchen Where from??
Comments

Sorry Niall24, I'm a bit confused, you said a German kitchen for £4,200.
So actually its an English manufactured kitchen from sweardlow for £4k? The same question then, what make? If they can't tell you or say its their own factory/make then they are hiding something. Its like buying a new car and being sold a red one and not knowing wheather its a Ford, BMW or skoda.

Ages ago when I had mine done I got a £3.5k quote from B&Q, then went out and bought everything and hired a fitter to come in and do it and I got it all done for £1.5k!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

Hi everyone
Sweardlows kitchens are own spec 18mm High density carcass colour coordinated. Blum hindges and the draw pack i forgot what he said it was also it comes with soft close everything.
He then explained about the low and high density wood which i understood and how the hindge screws would pop out on low density carcass's.
The german kitchen is what ever is on his web site But 16mm high density carcass.
The doors are high gloss laminate from Sweardlow and foil wrap from ikea.
We also have been told by a fitter and a friend to try Kutchenaus kitchens.
Does anyone know what density the ikea carcass is?

Hi Niall24
So he can't tell you the manufacturer of either the English product or the German product then.
Whatever they do will probably be better than Ikea's but without knowing the makes who knows for sure.
I find it very strange when an independent kitchen specialist won't say who makes the products they sell!
Gloss laminate, I would assume from their German supplier would probably be better (harder wearing) than the Ikea foil.
Oh by the way Kutchenhaus is probably the worst German kitchen there is. Very flimsy by German standards.

looks like ikea then!
he told me the german manufacture but i forgot, the broucher he showed us that had the doors etc in had "pg1 cow" or something like that in the top left hand corner of the first few pages and on the front cover the logo had some silver/ red in it.
Also there was an offer of a 6m run inc' bocsh applinaces for 5K by the same German manufacture.
Is there any truth in this low/high density as it is the first time i have heard of it relating to chip board.
Here is a quote from kutchenhuas when i e mailed them over their spec.
Our units come fully ridged built. The carcase is melamine-coated on both faces 16 mm thick on sides and 19 mm thick at the bottom of the unit. The carcase is HDB High density board (chipboard).

Hi Niall
I don't really know what else I can say other than obviously they haven't given you a brochure other wise you would have found the manufacturers name on that.
It is true about different densities of chipboard, the industry doesn't like to call it chipboard, they call it MFC (Melamine faced chipboard). The problem is though that companies can say they use the highest density of chipboard but how would you prove it?
To be honest Niall, there are so many factors to consider when buying a new kitchen. The quality/make of the cabinetry is of course a major consideration but equally so is finding a good company/designer who you can trust to do the job properly for you.
The OH and I have been in the industry for years and our customers come to us mainly through recommendation and we kind of turn into their friends as they trust us to do a good job for them. They know that we only sell products that we have at home ourselves so have complete confidence in them. I don't mean this to sound like an advert, hopefully I'm just explaining the sort of relationship you should have with your kitchen designer to achieve the best results as 'getting it right' is SO important when purchasing a new kitchen.
