I always think the trick with reluctant veggies is to present something that happens to have no meat, as opposed to something ''vegetarian''. e.g. spaghetti with a tomato-ey sauce or The Iman Fainted, in which no one could be left looking for ''missing'' meat. We eatfood that happens to be vegetarian veruy oftenr, and yet my mind can go pblank if I have vegguies coming rounds.

A giant yorkshire pudding filled with mash and assorted vegetables, with lashings of onion gravy is great ... you don't notice there's no meat.

Or cheese omelette and chips with beans, winner.

chopped onion and garlic in olive oil, cook down a bit, mild chilli powder, hot chilli powder, bit of sugar, tin of chopped toms, tin of kidney beans, tin of tuna, cook down for a good while gently and the magic bit is a hot red chilli, which i dont chop up, i leave it whole but cut it length ways (so it just has splits in it).

lovely with brown rice or quinoa and i also love it with a load of cheese grated on top for extra saturated fat

    Love it, more recipes please!

If we could just combine this place with MS Old Style, we'd have the perfect board. Plus maybe throw in a few discount vouchers. Then I'd be quite happy here.

Never need to look at the other boards at all.

Don't get into debt in the first place?

Some people seriously bewilder me with their wrecklessness.

My sisters friend dropped out of college at 18 and got a full time job in an off-license.

What is the first thing he did with his first pay cheque?

Put a deposit down on a 12k Ford Fiesta and the rest towards finance.

He lives about 1 mile from this place of work so can't even justify it.

My sister is prone to seeing these sort of people with brand new cars, the latest clothes etc as "well-off", then I remind her that often they live in Local Authority or low-quality rented housing, and that nowadays the car somebody drives and the clothes they wear are NOT an indicator of personal wealth ;)

well the lidl special that i cooked last night was better than anything ive cooked.

chopped onion, garlic, green pepper in olive oil, cooked down a bit. then some forkfulls of lidl jars of chargrilled courgette in oil, grilled mushrooms in herbs in oil, olives in chilli (oil drained off as much as poss), pinch of smoked paprika, good spoonfull of hot chilli powder, 2 tins of tuna, tin of kidney beans, tin of chopped toms.

OMG it was so delicious. had this with white rice this time and took the leftovers cold for lunch today.

If you are that badly skint then dfw is a brilliant place to get ideas.

You have a home phone and internet , and a mobile then theres cuts straight way.You smoke/drink daily then stop. You sit in the house all day in t shirts and cant afford the heating , i dont need to state the obvious. You have two cars then have one.You have problems feeding your kids then perhaps you should have considered the size of your brood a bit better.

What a pile of tosh. I'm wondering how the hell the chances of someone with no phone or internet would be in getting a job ? People living on the breadlibe don't have ANY cars never mind 2 ...and last week I gave a guy I know in just this situation some of my old wooly jumpers and a coat because he can't afford his heating (probably because he pays over the odds via a prepayment meter which compares well to mugging the poor to pay the rich).

You can't feed your kids...well your answer there sounds like something Hitler may have suggested. Maybe you advocate sterilising the poor eh?

You've obviously never had a poor day so best you don't comment on what you don't know really.

It's worth noting that some folk are bullied into paying debts by DCAs constantly harassing them (into suicide in more than one instance).

We are all one diivorce, one serious physical injury that prevents us working again, or one redundancy away from the poorhouse.

I own my house outright, but when I couldn't work I had to choose between food and paying the bills maby times, 62 quid a week doesn't go far at all just with normal utilities to pay. Especially when the companies supplying can massively raise their prices anytime they like. IF people working and earning decent wages struggle to pay, how the hell can someone manage looking for work when there isn't any around?

It's saddening to see the glee that some reporters and casual bystanders get from other people's hardship. Common but saddening.
