Edit: just seen other poster saying PTests are fine. Goodness they were £10 when I started with babies!

lol, they usually sell durex condoms... although you can get the 3 pack in bodycare for 89p and if the big boxes are bogof then thats the best value i think

I wouldn't buy screwdrivers in the £1 shop - had some once and they turned out to be made of really soft metal, no good, for all they looked so nice. I got a nasty metal splinter in my finger too.

I buy the pregnancy tests and use them to determine if there's 1kg or 1.5kg in the bags of sugar.

    Priceless :D

How much did you pay for the pregnacy tests?
  • great for toblerones usually £2.49 and Cadburys chocolate 4 pkts, these usually £1.49. Most other bath stuff and cleaning products are as cheap in Wilkinsons.
  • If you want to save money, but rechargeables.

Avoid the cheap batteries (except maybe for a wallclock or a remote control). DEFINITELY DON'T USE THEM FOR A DIGITAL CAMERA (or anything else 'high drain').

They don't want the batteries to last a decent amount of time - otherwise you won't be back to buy more.

The enviromental impact of those cheap batteries is fairly horrendous as well. (Landfill laced with sulphuric acid...)
If less is more, think how much "more" more would be.

That's very very clever from a Zinc Chloride cell :)

And somewhat impossible from an ALKALINE cell

    As for the "environmental impact"

    Waste Disposal
Zinc Chloride (Heavy Duty) batteries have no hazardous waste characteristics and can be landfilled.

And just for the record - the only batteries on sale in "Pound shops" are the PP3 9V varieties
A battery being a collection or an array of multiple cells - that's why it's called a battery, as in battery farm / battery chicken :)

What about toblerone? Surely thats cheaper in the pound shop. It is very expensive in Duty free!
I bought some toilet rolls in there recently and they were rubbish. I always buy a diary in there every year, page a day except Sat/Sun. Never found anywhere cheaper.
i always get a good deal on a pack of 12 tesco value or other supermarket £1.26 a good ish cheep toilet roll :rudolf:

    FREE from family planning ;)
  • Poundland: I got a socket/spanner set and I'd say the metal is very weak, wont last long. I do get sets of paintbrushes though, pack contains 5. They are pretty expensive at B&Q etc (better quality perhaps, but cheapie ones seem fine to me).

I have bought loads of AAA, AA, C and D cells from Poundland. I think they are great for kids toys etc.

    Why ?

Because kids get new toys, put in batteries, play with the toy once and leave it on. So regardless of the type or cost of a battery, it will go flat. Rather that with a 10p battery than an expensive 'better brand' one.

Loads of things don't need high-drain, high useage batteries. So horses-for-courses as they say !
