Referring to the OP about writing prices down...I think it's pretty easy when shopping to know whether or not it's a decent price from store to store. For example I wouldn't buy a tube of aquafresh toothpaste in a supermarket for £1.69 because I know I can get it in Home Bargains or a pound shop for £1! I definitely don't go round all shops price-checking but I do tend to pop in and out of 2 or 3 before I get to a pound shop because I'll be going back the same way and can pick it up at the best value place..

I didn't think you were able to buy more than 2 boxes of paracetamol at a time?

The PharmSoc has no jurisdiction over non-registered premises. Pack sizes were reduced from 100s to 32s as a safety measure and this was a really difficult message for members of the public to understand having been used to larger packs. One of the frustrations my team had at the time was that a market stall in the main square was could sell as many packs as they wished - in reality 5 for £1! Many years ago I'm pleased to say.

Now the paracetamol issue really amuses me..what on earth stops a determined soul from going into B00ts, £land, $uperdrug, MrT etc etc etc to stock up?

We've only just got one of these stores in our area & have visited just the once so far, but as with anywhere else--yooze pays your money & makes your choice  There's never going to be 'one shop suits all' so--if you have the time--the only alternative is to shop around.

  • headphones, or mini speakers are horrible quality and the wires are badly attached and pull away from the ears/speaker after a few uses. The sound quality of some headphones I got was awful, I could hardly hear my music at all.
oh and the skype phone. didnt work, im sure they just pack an empty plastic shell and assume you wont return it.
It only takes a second to say 'Thanks, you just saved me a few quid!'

  • The pound shop pregnancy tests do work but they are usually 25mlu, but 99p from savers work too earlier that are 10mlu and more sensitive. I know it's only a penny saving but a penny is a penny is a penny! And when you're a POAS addict those pennies soon add up!

    32p each or 2 for 50p in Wilkinsons :T:T
  • The bags of sugar are definitely worth the money - the smaller bag in major supermarkets is just under £1 so you're getting almost double for your money

    Ooh the first to reply!

I saw bags of sugar (definitely 1kg) in my local pound shop, a bag of sugar doesn't cost £1 so thought that was a bit of a rip off. Shall look out for more ;)
  • Maoam sweeties in Poundland; I saw them for £50 in Asda this week (I think that's their normal price). I loooooved them so that's the only reason why I remembered the price.

I have to say that I've spent tons of money in Poundland since I discovered that such shop exists couple of months ago :p ...... I wish I had known them before, that they sell so much stuff that I can give away, like toys, Disney colouring books, Nivea and some other branded stuff.....oh, and they have such helpful staff! They have even carried my overstuffed baskets to the till on many occasions. And they always took my stuff back if I found I wanted to return it, so definitely - the returns work fine!

I so wish I had a better memory and remembered how much stuff actually costs in the other shops so that I could help out more.... :A
