  • What about toblerone? Surely thats cheaper in the pound shop. It is very expensive in Duty free!
I bought some toilet rolls in there recently and they were rubbish. I always buy a diary in there every year, page a day except Sat/Sun. Never found anywhere cheaper.

Shouldnt be...theyre basic H4 55/60w Halogens. Sure theyre not as bright as new Xenon bulbs...but they are bright enough, the same brightness as any car headlight a few years back.

You would expect them to be as bright as halogen H4 55/60w bulbs bought elsewhere, but the bulbs in the packs I bought were very much dimmer.
  • Much cheaper on the market, Poundland is £1.25 for a kilo, market price is £1.50 for two kilos. Fat Balls may look cheaper, but they are old and dried out and birds won't eat them.
  • They do have a few bargains, at the moment they had cheap cadburys chocolate and packets of cashew nuts.
  • A new Poundland opened in my town just over a week ago (in the old Woolies) and I bought a pair of "Ladies Thick Tights". Got them home and had a good laugh when I tried to try them on. They would only stretch up halfway up my legs. they were obviously meant for very, very small ladies, i.e 6 year olds. Took them back and got my £1 back.
  • Each £1 shop has varying stock from town to town.

In my local town I have stocked up on Charles Worthington hairproducts - Hair shine glaze rrp in Sainsburys (where I have bought it before - no more!) is £4.95 !!!
Also have the Hair shine spray - which is as good as one made by v.posh Aveda.
    And the hair straightening balm
I have not seen these in any of the other stores

My partner buys the mens body spays (2 for £1.00) which are the same size can, & smell EXACTLY like the Lynx Choclately smell one - which I think is about £2.50 per each can !

When I had a vague suspicion of being pregnant, i bought the HGC test strips and they came out positive, done a Predictor the next day - Positive - so I think they do work, but anyway a GP will do a test anyway

You just have to be a bit savvy!

Maoam sweeties in Poundland; I saw them for £50 in Asda this week (I think that's their normal price). I loooooved them so that's the only reason why I remembered the price.

I have to say that I've spent tons of money in Poundland since I discovered that such shop exists couple of months ago :p ...... I wish I had known them before, that they sell so much stuff that I can give away, like toys, Disney colouring books, Nivea and some other branded stuff.....oh, and they have such helpful staff! They have even carried my overstuffed baskets to the till on many occasions. And they always took my stuff back if I found I wanted to return it, so definitely - the returns work fine!

I so wish I had a better memory and remembered how much stuff actually costs in the other shops so that I could help out more.... :A

£50? !!! you sure about that?

  • Them Pregnancy kits do actually work because my wife found she was expecting our 3rd child using 1 of them. I can buy them cheaper from where I used to work which is a cash and carry.
  • Beechams Flu Plus Capsules £1 for 8; Asda and Tesco own brand are around £1.80 for 16.

Knee high socks £1 for 4 pairs; Tesco Value knee highs £1 for 5 pairs

I bought various bulbs last year and the success varied; I've had much better success with packs of bulbs from Asda. Wonder if the stock in Poundland is older?
  • In general you get what you pay for so in all these type of shops its a case of buyer beware. You get nowt for nowt thesedays.
