Hi,
Any metal tools such as pliers, hammers, crow bars etc are always good value not just because of the price. More often than not the metal is cast and manufactured in China. They cast a stronger better quality metal than us. I got this tip from a DIY tv programe.
Since then I have always looked for tools like this made in China and very rarely have they let me down. Give them a go.0 -
dont buy the cadbury's fingers (small pack) as most supermarkets are doing them for 69p. If they have the large pack then get them as they are good value0

Pack of 40 pencils .first 8 couldn't be sharpened 'cos the lead had shattered. Gave up after 8 : put them on the fire0

We have three Poundland shops in neighbouring towns (we stay in a village) and my friend and I buy sugar from there on a regular basis and there ARE 1.5KG bags!!!
this will depend on the pound shop in question, some will sell 1kg bags and some will sell 1.5kg bags, both obviously for a pound, the trick is to check so you get the best deal.1kg bags a rip off. 1.5kg bags are a good buy. advice is, just check0 -

I have occasionally bought tools in pound shops, I have found them more miss than hit though, screw drivers made from what appears to be lead they bend that quickly, is just one that springs to mind. Also drills bits, again to much lead in them ;-) because they dont seem to drill holes and just go blunt :-/0 -
Balloons - £1 in Poundland but 78p in Tesco.
Wouldn't trust the 2 for £1 pregnancy tests either (not that I've tried them)
£1 pick & mix is great though - it's £3.99 in the video shop
The 2 for £1 pregnancy tests do actually work, when OH thought she was pregnant she took all sorts of tests and came up negative, took both poundland ones and they came up positive.... about a week or two later all the others started to show the positive result, they actually proved to be more sensitive than the £5 & £10+ ones0 -
Most of the stuff is rubbish. Good for toothpaste, crisps, sweets and 4 for £1 cans at times. Also good for fix it things like small screwdrivers but only because you are too tight to pay the £4.99 price for real ones.
Fine if you know the price of the article in Asda.0 -
Paracetamol. 3 boxes of 16 for a pound, while they are 14p a box in Wilkinson or even 28p a box in the supermarket.
I didn't think you were able to buy more than 2 boxes of paracetamol at a time?*wonders when they will make dressing gowns acceptable day wear?*No new toiletries challenge - use up the stash first!NSD Jan 2/150 -

the pregnancy tests work fine, in fact they gave me a faint positive 10days after ovulating/conceiving with my first child, and always negative when not preg lol. But why buy 2 for £1 when you can often get 3 for £1??0 -
The packs containing a selecting of car bulbs are pretty useless.
The headlamp bulb in my wife’s car blew just before going for it's MOT.
I had a Poundland headlamp bulb pack in my car, so I popped in the correct bulb, checked it worked and drove the car to the MOT test garage.
During the MOT test the Poundland bulb popped and I had to pay the garage to replace the bulb or it would have failed the MOT.
Oops!
you sure it wasn't your error?? i.e. you didn't touch the bulb with your bare fingers did you?0
