    Copies of e-mail sent via the Apple UK website support earlier this week, which those of you with hacker computers authorised may find helpful:

Clearly I do not want to have the store computer authorised, but seem to only be able to deauthorise the computer I am using OR deauthorise all computers once I get to five.     i saw this mentioned in the iphone thread as well
    where people are being required to log into itunes instore on purchase
    very strange arrangement IMO

    Just thought I would let you know that eventually I got my itunes account sorted but not without a LOT of hastle. In the end Itunes said they could not delete the offending "Chinese" order from my account until I had paid the outstanding debt of over £30 and consequently if I didn't pay it I could not update my apps or use the account or change any details in the account. I could not even return the account to English so that I could read what I was doing. They said that if I paid off the debt they would refund the money. Eventually I reluctantly agreed to do this and I have been refunded (less than I paid due to the exchange rate). I immediately ticked "none" on my account so that no card is registered.
    It is now sorted but I have completely lost my faith in iTunes as now another member of my family is going through the same agonising trial.
    Why do these companies - ie Amazon, Itunes, etc insist on keeping your card details on the account?

    but on the flip side,if you use a decent password you can go a long way to securing your account details

    I see your point but I would have dared anyone to have guessed my password - the moral of this story is to change your passwords frequently and create an unusual ID not linked to your email

    you want a password thats a good mix

    eg PaS$w0rD but even better if it doesnt even make a word
  • Safest way to avoid the iTunes scams is never to put credit or debit card details into your iTunes account. They are not needed you can use iTunes gift cards instead. I buy them on ebay, quicker than going to get them in the shops because the sellers will email the codes to you straight away. A word of caution tho, do use a seller with a good reputation ie Top Rated, Power Seller, lots of good feedback etc cos there are otherwise scams waiting for you there as well. I've found a very reliable seller and stick to him.
