Is there any way of seeing that it recognises that it is a 1Gig card and that it will not think it is full after 512mb has been used ?

I think so, I am using a partially used 1gb card in mine, testing it after already having some shots on it from my main digital camera.

Anyway, the 4mp Vivitar 4345 states in the manual that using a 512mb card it can shoot 38 minutes of video footage.

Well with my 1gb card only partially used going into video mode it states I can shoot 55 minutes of video.

If someone has a blank formatted 1gb card and tries setting the camera mode on the 4345 to video I assume it would state you could record 75 minutes.

I think from my observations the camera does "see" more than the 512mb stated in the manual, anyone else want to add to this?

Camera btw is manufactured by Premier, and at least with the 5385 has been released under many different guises, including Konica, Hitachi, Pentax, Vivitar and the review for it here as a Ricoh RR530

I suppose that this has already been posted, but here goes anyway. Walking past Superdrug today, I noticed in the window a poster advertising a 4mp digital camera, with 3x optical zoom, for £49.99. If memory serves, and it often doesn't, the make was Vivitar. Don't know any other details, but at that price it seems a steal.

Not if you know it was around £28 there 2 weeks ago.

Ah, yes, but is it still £28? I should have known that it would have been spotted long ago.

Managed to get a 4345, where's the best/cheapest place to get a 512MB SD memory card?

My local Boots photo department were having a massive clearout on SD cards last week they were all marked down, some to as low as £3.
I didn't take that much notice to be honest as my camera takes XD cards but it might be worth checking your local Boots as well
