Vivitar 4mp £27 5mp £31.50 @ superdrug

I got the 4MP for £27. There was only 2 left. I also got a 256MB memory card for £11.25. I was told the memory card was half price plus 10% with the coupon. I think they tried to rip me off. I'll ask for refund for the memory card.

Thanks to the OP, I managed to get the last two 5MP (one for the in-laws) from Tavistock.

I must say normally I wouldn't give Vivitar the time of day, I am a Canon man, having a 10D and 20D and a couple of thousand pounds of proffessional grade lenses. And for point and shoot I normally stick with Fuji cameras.

That said I took a few snaps in the garden last night and printed them out A4 size, and was very impressed for the actual price of the camera, I wasn't expecting the quality of the prints that came out of a £31.50 camera.
It'll be perfect for nights out where beer may be spilt, on the beach etc.

Yes I'd take the SD card back. Lots of places online have 1G SD cards for around £15, ebuyer, 7dayshop etc.
A 1G card will hold around 360 odd images on the 5MP on the fine mode, which is enough for the average holiday I would have thought.
If you didn't want a 1G a 512M card is around £6.50 and would be good enough for a day out.

Thanks very much to the OP, I was really lucky to get the last 4MP one from Shipley Superdrug yesterday. The sales assistant had found it in a drawer that morning and put it out for sale. She said she could have sold it several times over on Saturday but they didn't know it was there. Argos are selling these for £70, and that's £10 off their normal price!

Anyone else with the 4MP vivitar having problems ? Mine keeps refusing to turn on Have tried new batteries and it makes no difference. Sometimes is switches on, sometimes it doesn't. Is there a trick I'm missing ?

Firmware on mine (bottom right of "Vivitar" screen when it boots up) is v1.07v. Ditto for everyone else ?

I think I've found a bug on the 4MP camera. If I put mine into pic replay mode and turn it off it won't come back on. You have to take the batts out and wait five-ten mins before it will come back to life. Could someone else confirm this ?

And laso...AFAIK the offer hasn't finished - however finding a shop with stock is probably getting harder to do.

Several shops I contacted yesterday to try and find one confirmed that the price of any left in stock, or new deliveries, would be at a higher price, somewhere near double the £30 & £35 offer FROM TODAY (Tues 6th).
