Secret Starbucks Coffee

Agree with Clairmelville. I asked about the free refills at the Starbucks near uni. Only one member of staff knew about it and said they didn't publicise it. So all the students now buy the smallest coffee and get the filter coffee refills for free when drinking indoors - or at least this was working pre-Christmas. Haven't been in since.0

Me too!! Can anyone spill the beans, so to speak!!
I don't do tea or coffee either, but I was feeling poorly & cold the other day & a friend persuaded me to try the signature hot choc & it was definitely yummy!! I'm craving another one, now I've thought about it!! Will have to find a Starbucks tomorrow, I think! Not good for the New Year diet, though! :eek:Everything I wanna do is either illegal, immoral or fattening! lol :rotfl:0 -
OMG! Have you seen the calorie content of those things!!
A "short" made with skimmed milk is just 267 calories (probably still more than a chocolate bar) BUT the Venti made with normal milk is a whopping 690 calories!! Thats 2/3rd of my calories for the day in one drink!!! I think a Big Mac & Fries would be less!!
The nutritional content of all lots of varieties of drinks in all the sizes (including "short") is on the website here: http://starbucks.co.uk/NR/rdonlyres/A1F93080-B168-41AF-85AC-2F42764B6FB9/7483/BeverageNutritionalInformation.pdf
Reminder to self: Not to get hooked on the signature hot chocolate!! :rotfl:Everything I wanna do is either illegal, immoral or fattening! lol :rotfl:0 -
Here's an article on the indefinite free refills...

Yuo, I hear what your saying- have only ever had a skinny tea or black filter coffee (once and never again in regards to the [STRIKE]mud[/STRIKE]- sorry, coffee)
That way it normally wont max 50kcals.
Good if your hungry or a body builder though... or a teenager with a metabolism faster then light speed!0 -
i was just glancing at this thread and thought id share a point incase anyone didnt know---
If you have a costco card or know someone who does...costco coffee IS starbucks coffee..they are the same supplier..so if u want to know how to make starbucks coffee..u can buy it from costco.Having a coke with youis even more fun than going to San Sebastian, Irun, Hendaye, Biarritz, Bayonne
or being sick to my stomach on the Travesera de Gracia in Barcelona0 -
I treat myself to a couple of hours quiet time with a book in Starbucks about once a week. I usually get the tall drip coffee and fruit toast (it's lovely and the price is the same if you have it in or out which appeals to my MSE side!) and take in my own Starbucks mug which knocks 25p off. I also have my free refill (though I'm now wondering if I have misread this and could have some naughty indulgent thing for the first cup and my drip coffee for the refill...) I've got a Starbucks top-up card which I put cash on every couple of months, it seems to be worth having as they've sent me a voucher for a free try of new products or new seasonal items two or three times and at the moment I'm using what I like to call 'oh god temptation to go in too often!' a book of 50p off vouchers they've sent with one for every single day through most of January! I'm sharing them with my Aunt as she goes out different days to me, and she's discovered that when ordering two drinks with the voucher it discounts both.
I do agree that the starting point of Starbucks is exorbitant cost, but by the time I've cherry-picked and prepped my order, plus the enjoyment I get (and their lovely warmth and comfort!) I feel it's good value for my money.
Thank you also to Yummum for various info (I did note it was relevant to two years ago, so some of it has been overtaken) especially the wet and dry bits - I didn't entirely follow but it's something I can ask my local Baristas to clarify.
Oh and I'm not the only person with a cupI gave two relatives their own for Christmas knowing they are much like me with regard to other people's heating bills!

Has anyone noticed that in some places they offer you a choice of tea size?
E.g. a 'small' tea is one teabag with (say) 200ml hot water, a large is a bigger cup with one teabag and (say) 300ml hot water.
And the price is £1.20 compared to £1.50?!0 -
