I received a leaflet today from an organization called "SOS Support Ltd" saying that there collecting in our area next Monday. They do say that they give some money to a charity called "Children's Hearts" (charity number 1082929). I have just checked the Charity Commission's website and sure enough that charity does exist, but last year's income was just over £900. If you consider that any half-decent charity shop will take that amount of money in a week, then it does make you wonder what percentage of income derived from these clothes collections actually finds its way to the "charity".
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

I turn them inside out & use them for my plastic recycling - the council are quite happy to collect it!

Or use it around the house for collecting bits & bobs when doing jobs.

I used to leave mine out to be collected, but not only did they never get collected, they just walked past the bag to deliver a fresh one without picking up the old one!
Quidco cashback paid out so far £745.89 :j

I'm pretty sure you should be leaving them out for them to collect, otherwise they've had to pay for the bag that you're not using!

For the first three years of moving in here I left them outside. They were never collected (they only bother to from the front fence to the door if their is a sack), so now I just check them, as they have become like litter.

Its unsolicted & they shouldn't put it through the persons door.

Also they are rarely charitys & usually take the stuff & sell it in the third world.

A few times I'd put the filled bag outside, filled with clean, wearable outgrown kid's clothing in good condition but the collector would poke through the contents & dump most of it in the garden.

So I started to leave the empty bags to be collected again, but 99% of the time they were left to blow round the garden as litter.

Now I use them for plastic recycling or to ferry stuff to the charity shop.
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
  • I once had 5 of these bags (unfilled) outside my front door waiting to be collected and they stayed there for over 2 months! In the end I had to chuck them as they were filthy. Can't believe nobody ever came back to pick them up! must cost a bit to make them all?!
