A colleague at work recommended 3D Wines http://www.3dwines.com/gifts.html
The idea is that you rent a vine and get an option to buy cases of the wine that's produced from them at a reduced rate. You can also arrange to visit the vineyard and collect your bottles in person. There's a wide selection and you can purchase 1 or 5 year rentals.
If your dad is a real wine nut then this is a nice gift and could potentially save him a bob or two but there's no obligation to buy the wine itself.0 -

Great idea- thanks- I've ordered the desktop calendar too, but sadly the "save20" discount doesn't seem to be working anymore.0 -

Hi, I know it maybe a little late but I got my dad a couple of canvas prints of family photos. It's something really fashionable at the moment but personal as well. I got mine from www.worldsacanvas.com They are really good quality and compared with high street prices they are a bargain. I will be using them again!0

This is a great thread, I'm not getting my dad anything, but want to get hubby something special, as he is an amazing father.
I hope once I've chosen something perfect, I can contribute the idea to this thread."I did then, what I knew then. And when I knew better, I did better"0 -

In various book shops you can buy 'quick reads' which are really good short books plenty of choice.
£2.99 each but in most librarys they have flyers with a £1 off voucher for this range.
The 'Srew it lets do it' Richard Bransan book is worth £1.99 and it may give dad's motivation to do something crazy (maybe not a good idea.ha)
There is also 'I love footbal' which my dad will def enjoy.
Thanks for this. Great idea ... my dh is not a big reader normally, but this book looks like something he'd enjoy so I got it for my girls to give to their daddy (along with the obligatory large toblerone:))
BTW - dont know if they are doing it in all stores ... but my local WHsmith were selling the large toblerones at half usual price (so I got the book and toblerone using the £1= quick reads voucher all for just £3.98

Apropos of Fathers
read this in a newspaper yesterday
There are 3 stages in a mans life
You believe in Father Christmas
You dont believe in Father Christmas
You are Father Christmas0 -
The Getting Personal web site is really good. I got my dad the Leeds United (scum!) newspaper book thing (might be a little late to order now). It was quite expensive (£40) but got £5.99 Quidco cash back on it so "only" (ahem) really cost £34.01. I have also ordered a calendar in the past from them and it was incredibly good quality; the book was too. So if you're going to get anything from Getting Personal don't forget cash back!
