Aldi thick sliced bacon is really good. Doesn't shrink and there is hardly any of that weird white foam! Ranges from 99p to £1.49. Oh and all Aldi meat has the 'tractor' and is English for those of you ethically concerned.

I'm another one who is convinced that for value for money it's better to buy about half the amount from the local butcher as you would in the supermarket - it might look less on your butties, but it tastes a 1,000 times better... quality not quantity means it's better value.

My local butchers has been bought up by a Hindu family and no longer stock any meat products. I'd like to support local business but how can I when this sort of thing happens?!?!?:(0
