MSE News: All web users urged to run anti virus check

Like many thousands of netbooks that were sold last year, and this year, with variants of Linux installed perhaps? Many people chose it over XP Home as it's lighter and faster, but many of those users were buying a simple laptop for web use or travel, certainly not as a tech user, who'd prefer a more powerful laptop...
Many people chose the Linux version over the XP version because they were intending to Mac-hack it and wanted to save £50 on a copy of Windows that they'd simply junk.
Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:
As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

No 'confusion' as you term it (whatever that is,) just general problems with the operating system.
You seem to have this opinion that 'newbie' users can't use Linux, when they're perfectly able to, (when not being lead to believe they're being asked to do something difficult that isn't.)Conjugating the verb 'to be":

I could just be down to coincidence and bad luck, but my laptop started acting oddly yesterday morning when I came onto this site. I shut down IE and updated and ran MalwareBytes. It picked up some problems that were not there when I ran it a few days ago. MalwareBytes seem to have sorted it out and HijackThis looks OK to me, although i'm no expert.
I don't do any online banking so not too worried.0 -
If you read the MSE article carefully, what is actually says is "watch out because we might've infected you".

I assume, then, that you are pleased to be surfing a website that allows malicious code to be inserted thereby potentially affecting all it's visitors? And then tries to "spin" it's screw-up by issuing a generalised, anodyne warning to "All Web users"?Je suis Charlie.0 -
If you practice safe browsing, stay away from dodgy websites, don't download pirated software, don't open strange email attachments (and use an email provider that scans incoming emails), you won't get any virus or malware that currently exists for the Mac.
The same applies to Windows assuming it is patched with automatic updates.0 -

I believe davidmt83 uses a Mac. In which case, he would be totally unconcerned by all of it.
By the way, if this malware of which you speak corrupts spelling I think you may have contracted it.

Could there be a connection? .All of a sudden this page looks very strange. All the tools at the top of the post are unususable e.g. Bold and Underline. All the smilies appear as words and not faces. I came here to night to ask why I am now getting a lot of complete page pop ups - twice in the middle of banking pages.0 -
