we have a driveway. ours , all paid for . part of our property. yet the family of people who live in the council house next to us think it is ok for them to park on our driveway every time they come up. we have told them so many time. and they just say ' oh didn't know it was YOUR driveway' really narky. there cane be loads of spaces in the road yet they still park on our driveway. It is so annoying.
Yes ok out driveway is massive ( 4 cars fit on it) but it just annoying that it is ours and others use it without being polite enough to ask. we prob woulnd't have a problem if they just asked.0 -

I realise this is possibly a silly question, but you have told them that it actually is part of your property, haven't you? Otherwise they may well think its a communal driveway and you're assuming rights over it that you don't have. That would be one way to interpret what you mention of their reply. This of course neatly brings us back neatly to the whole start of the thread - they might think you're behaving like the people who think they have a "right" to park on the street outside their house when they don't.
If you have and they're still being jerks then maybe its time to invest in some of those collapsible parking posts. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -

Leave your car on the road, next time you get 'visitors' whip it back on the drive, when they ask you to move say
"Shorry mate, Eyes been on the beer all day and I a lot pished, going to be tomoorows before I can move, you're by best mate though." And then vomit on their shoesIt's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0 -

Robertomoir, Yes we have told them. One moving day i saw them struggling so i said if it helpful to you would you like to use my driveway so i moved my car. and while talkign i brought up the subject it was our driveway and how it has been a godsend to us. ( because our last neighbours took about 6 months to understand it was ours).
And since them we have told them at least a dozen times. i've even contacted their housing group and they have reminded them that their property doens't have parking.
It isn't my neighbours directly as they don't have a car. but it is their family and friends who use it.
This will make you laugh i was just getting kids in car ready to go when they pulled up on drive. i said i'm on my way out could you please move off my drive. they told me ' Yeah ok were be done in 5 mins!!!!!!!!'
i will just keep on reminding them. until one day they will pull up and i'll have a barrier installed like you get in supermarkets, lol.0 -
Park at the end of yor drive so they can't get onto it??
How about a standard note [pre-printed stack in the porch], that you can put under the three? wipers each time??0 -
How about....
Walk up to them, look them directly in the eyes and say "I have explained several times to you that this is my drive. Why do you continue to park her?"
Wait for their reponse, wait and make them respond.
Then explain carefully and peacefully "If you don't stop parking here I will have no choice but to kill you and all your scummy relatives"
Oh dear, I was doing so well up until '...no choice but to...0 -
yes we do park diagonally sometimes. but you kinds feel why should you.
it wouldn't even enter my head if i was visiting a friend to go and park on their neighbours driveway , just so i'm closer to where i have to be. it really does make you think about ' do some people have any basic polite mannors anymore ?'0 -
Right get one of those bollards things installed so they cant get on the drive lol ..
or get a parking company to patrol it and issue fines .. hopefully they wont be an mse member and get the point..
