The problem over moving the cones and exercising your right to park on the road is the flat tyre(s) you seem to risk finding on your return!0

i had this problem for years, i live on the last street before the town centre and office workers would be queuing to take my space as i left for work/shopping/school run. We eventually got a residents parking scheme at a cost of £27.50 per annum per car, the best thing that has ever happened to us.
we tried the polite notices but unfortunatley it caused a lot of hassle for us because it is a public road and as such we had no priority for the parking spaces.
Tell your mum she could be fined for leaving the boxes out or the police could pay her a visit.0 -
Years ago I used to drive to work to a busy town. I was always looking for free places to park and I found a road only 5 minutes walk away that had no signs up to say no parking or residents only. I looked carefully and there were definitely no signs anywhere.
I parked my car there one day and came back from work to find a notice on the windscreen. I can't remember the wording now, but it was something to the effect of that road having some sort of agreement that commuters could not park there and if my car was found there again action would be taken. I never parked there again but now I'm wondering - is that some kind of scheme or was a resident making it up? I do remember noticing that the road was pretty empty and wondering why more people didn't park there. All the other free roads in that area were packed full of commuters.0 -
