Hello everyone a010.gif. Welcome to the weekly spend challenege. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track.

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever. clapping.gif

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her around last year

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x

Good luck everyone.:T

    Morning Budgeteers,

I hope you are all having a lovely weekend.

Ok budget for the week is £50 but this is to include dinner out of Thursday as I have a friend coming over from the Burgh. Going to see if I can convince her to go somewhere cheap :D so I can save some pennies.

I am going out for lunch today with a friend but I am not going to be counting that in this challenge I will be taking that from another budget when I
    [STRIKE]fiddle[/STRIKE] restructure my budget

Well done Karom for Purple this week. Good to the reds for next week I am sure you can make.
    Weekly Spend Challenge: £0/£30

  • Morning pointypenguin, thanks for starting a new threat.

yay I managed to spend ZERO pounds of my budget this week, woot! That's going straight towards our coffee-table-saving!

I will go for £20 again this coming week please :)

Well done we have another purple.

Do you know what kind of coffee table you are getting?

  • Hi pointypenguin, I just wanted to thank you for running this challenge.

I remember when I first started this many months ago, I struggled with a budget of £100/week! I used to see other people trying for £50 or less, and dreamed of the day when I would be as disiplined as they were. Now, I'm content with £20 a week, and probably wouldn't know what to do if I had £100... actually, I'd take £20 and save the rest!
My monthly outgoing has come down from £2000 a month to £500 a month, and it's all thanks to this challenge that really made me look at what I was spending money on. so THANK YOU to yourself, and everyone that does the challenge.

coffee table - we decided to get rid of one of the two sofas we have in the living room, as our living room is tiny. Instead, we want a coffee table, but not sure exactly what yet. we are going to have a look at the charity furniture shop tomorrow when we go and donate our sofa :)

Morning all, well yesterday I only spent £20 of my £30 budget so I actually came in on budget- £69 yay
I've already done my weekly shop and filled up the car with petrol- so I've got £10 for personal spends for the rest of the week (I'm changing the spend challenge rules again- one day I'll get something that works)
    Have a great week all
    Debt free 11/05/11!

  • Hi everyone

I've managed to go over my allocated £40, hmph! I spent £51.10 due to an unexpected but nice night out on Friday after work and the blasted cigarettes!

I remember when I could easily have 18 NSDs a month and I long for them. I know that reading all the posts on here will encourage me as I'm really envious of those people who have NSDs!

Thanx pointypenguin for running this thread and to all the peeps, I will get there by reading your posts and trying to emulate you all. Thanx for the kick up the........

Will try harder this week! I'm allocating £25 for this week.

    Cheers
    Casper

thanx, was tempted but was thinking I might need it for something important later, was tempted to buy lottery tickets with it as it was "free", but decided against it.
