  • Welcome Chris81418, Bigbeff and wannaberich1 I have added you to the list.

True good luck for the wedding I am sure it will be fabulous you will need to post us a picture when you have time so we can see you dress.

    Kate enjoy Biffy:j

Do tell us what your system is!!

Pink you are going to wish you had not asked. My bizzare budgetting system is as follows:

I have a weekday budget that runs from Monday to (end of working day) Friday. This money goes into a basic bank account with a switch card but no overdraft on Monday morning by standing order. I then have a weekend budget which goes into the same account on a Friday morning again by standing order but I am not allowed to use it until after work on Friday and this is supposed to be for Friday night to Sunday. Anything left from the weekend budget on Sunday gets added to the weekday budget and this is my challennge budget. I have been doing this for a few weeks now and I find it works for me and means I can make it to the end of the month instead of running out of money by week 2.

Have a great wedding day on the 13th.
I am not yet prepared to make the big commitment step of wedding personally after 5 10 years or so.

Glad to see you sticking down to a budget, quite inspiring. I am starting bit by bit and maybe I'll see that we can manage next year !??!
    MFW on your mark
  • Hi Guys,

Just had a really bad day panicking about my finances, thinking about DMP and ways of cutting down.

Found this thread and wondered if I can join in please?

    I know it's Monday now but can I have a budget of £15? :o

Hoping writing down every thing I spend will make me think a bit more than I do.

    Thank you!

We have managed the whole wedding on less than £1k - mostly due to managing our money better and thanks to this very challenge!! It feels so much better to make your money stretch, to make things yourself etc it really feels like its our wedding because we've made it so personal to us!! Definitely worth it mate, plus you get to wear a pretty dress :rotfl:

  • True good luck for the wedding .x.

Welcome to the newbies - Hello

Psycho - I found this thread a few weeks ago and it really helps alot as you start to really think about what you 'need' rather than just spending. Our finances are in a total mess and we are doing a self managed DMP and its going well but having a hard time at the mo as other half has had to take an unexpected pay cut and the ends dont meet any more.We had no notice so feeling a bit fed up about it all but got to stay positive as life could be harder.

This site is fab though as I dont feel like Im the only one in a mess and theres loads of advice and ideas

Pointy - I like your budget...that makes total sense to me as I find weekdays Im fine as too busy to spend but weekends are harder - yet I always make the mistake of thinking on friday'oh I havent spent all week - I can splurge!' so I may steal your idea : )

    Hope everyones well

No spend day for me today

I've been thinking about self managed, but I'm going in to town today to see if i can talk to CAB. I feel better after a bad night sleep but I can't keep getting like this every few months and freaking out!

Going to take vouchers I have for free coffee at starbucks so I can feel like I'm spending but not ;) Will have to pay for car parking and going to buy a diary for next year as I've already got a ton of stuff I need to write in it, but other than that, I shouldn't have to buy anything else!
    Good luck everyone x

  • Good luck for the wedding True, I hope you have a great day. And well done on keeping the wedding budget so low, you're an inspiration!

Today I spent £1.83 on ginger cake and some bagels to see me through work lunches. I wish I had enough self control to stop buying cake! As if hitting my waistline isn't hard enough, I've noticed that it's my major spending weakness too! :o

So £8.17 left til the end of the week.

Good luck Budgeteers.....She starts singing "One for all and all for one, budgeteers are always thrifty".:rotfl:
