Natwest Debit Card Confusion !

The purple one is shown on the Natwest Web Site............

    http://www.natwest.com/personal/current-accounts/g4/cards/yourcard.ashx

It has Servicecard 100 on the Right Hand Side, the call centre told me the Blue one replaced Solo and the Purple Maestro, and further went on to say the Purple has a £100 or £250 CGC limit were the blue has none.

It also seems to depend alot on who you speak to as some don't seem to have a clue (And that's putting it mildly).

Well again i've just called them & they say that Solo & Maestro have both been replaced with just the one universal Visa Debit card, colour is irrelevant. Nothing about Solo being replaced by a Blue card & Maestro being replaced with a Purple card.

So basically i still can't get any of this verified by the Bank themselves, which is why i still would like to know who actually says that Solo is being replaced with Blue cards & Maestro with Purple, because this hasn't come from the Bank themselves. As far as they are concerned there is only the one single type of Visa Debit that replces both Solo & Maestro, not two different ones. They still insist colour means nothing.

So it still seems nobody at Natwest is giving the same information out because i have now been given about 6 different stories so far.

I agree every time I ask I get different information, for me I think I will wait and see what I get in the post. I think what they are saying is that colour is irrelevant is not true as Blue has no CGC and Purple Does, so there is a difference, also have a look at the Natwest T&C and look at this section which seems to confirm there is a difference in that there are two types of Visa Debit card one with a Cheque Guarantee and the other without.....................

    http://www.natwest.com/content/global_options/terms/Terms_Conditions.pdf

"14.3.4 If you have a card that displays the Visa Debit logo and the card
does not display a cheque guarantee hologram you will only be
able to use your card at a retailer or supplier of services where
they can authorise the transaction with us at the time of the
transaction being made. If this is not possible the transaction will
    be declined."

    NatWest
Blue Visa Debit = No Cheque Guarantee (Solo card replacement)
Purple Visa Debit = £100 or £250 Guarantee (Maestro replacement)

    RBS
Light Blue Visa Debit = No Cheque Guarantee (Solo card replacement)
Dark Blue Visa Debit = £100 or £250 Guarantee (Maestro replacement)

Yes, other people have already posted that but it still isn't an official source is it? Just posting the words
"Blue Visa Debit = No Cheque Guarantee (Solo card replacement)
Purple Visa Debit = £100 or £250 Guarantee (Maestro replacement)" does not tell us where Natwest have actually stated that is the case themselves, that's what i am getting at here.

I am going into my local branch today but i can't just say "Someone posted it on a forum so it must be true", i need to quote them with cold, hard facts from thier OWN literature that states this is the case - and there isn't any from Natwest themselves, that's the whole point i am trying to make here.

People can keep posting it but that doesn't make it a fact unless it is coming from Natwest themselves.

This isn't the RBS group website.
If you want something from an 'official source' then go there!
That isn't what this forum is for... :A

I wish it was that easy!!!

Since rbs and it seems from posts I have read natwest have brought in the visa debit cards people are being told there is only one card and it has no cheque guarente limit.

But rbs's own leaflet on visadebit cards shows a highline100 cheque guarente card and mine is different/ I have asked the question twice in branch and once on the phone and there is just alot of head scratching we only have one card.

'Ok then why do i have a light blue card and your leaflet shows a dif card on it' Then I just get blank expressions:eek:

Talk about missing the point. For your information i am well aware what this forum is for, i am also aware that most people who make catagorical statements as you did can provide a source for thier claims.

Where did i say it was the RBS group? I have simply asked the people who keep on repeating the same thing to substantiate what they are saying, yet none of them have yet been able to do that so far including you, so rather than just being sarcastic i ask you again - where is your source? Why Is that so difficult to answer?

I've resolved this at my local branch btw. They knew exactly what the problem was and have issued me a Visa Debit Servicecard 100. I was originally sent the wrong card. Problem solved.

I hope you have better luck than me, same thing got the blue card was expecting the cheque one, phoned up all was told so many different things by so many different people ranging from 'We don't do Visa Debit cards' to 'We don't issue cheque cards anymore' and of course the 'That's the only card we do now and you have it !', so fed up of that I went into my local branch see someone who tapped in my details and said ' I see the problem you have been sent the wrong card, I will get the correct card ordered for you', so I left the branch quite happy that it had been sorted and vowing never to use telephone banking again and always to visit a branch in future and speak to someone face to face.

So the post came today and guess what !, yes another bloody blue card !, phone up the branch several times before I actually got someone and was told that they will have to send me out a manual form to fill in and return and they will see what happens !.

So that coupled with the fact my branch is one of the ones closing has been the final straw, I am off back to Lloyds at least I do have the 3-in-1 card with them and they 'Seem' to know what they are doing.

I have resolved my problem as well = I am off to Lloyds.
  • Happy to report that i did have more luck then you. My new PURPLE Natwest Visa Debit Servicecard 100 arrived today, i now have a Blue cashcard & Purple Servicecard. :D
