I was told since the acc is only 2-3 months old it shows no pre-approved cards I had a key acc for two years prior. I had a solo card and they ordered me a visa debit card its light blue like the savings card shown on the website which today shows new and old highline service cards.

I went in last week and filled in a service card application which was sent off to ask for a normal visa debit card which are currently highline 100 cards dark blue.

Yeah thats correct if you havent got a pre approval you would need to complete an application for one.

Yeh branch manager said once my key acc had been shut a month then apply and you should get one. How long do they take to make a decision?

I not being charged for paypal transactions though! I have just got my first charge and I am not happy about that.

If you are pre-approved or made an application for a servicecard then that's what they should send you unless you made an application.

If a card was ordered for what ever reason they will just send you one. They wont look into reasons why the new card was ordered etc. If it was ordered via telephone banking they made have just ordered you a replacement. If there was a pre approval on your account you would have been transferred through to lending.

Thanks, I think it is better to wait and see what comes, although they did say it was a Visa Debit card and Not a cheque Card (Can they tell if its a cheque card on telephone banking ?), if it comes as a blue card again should I just wait until I am pre-approved (Six months in 3 weeks) or make an application now in the branch ?.

    Thanks

Yeah ring telephone banking and ask them what card has been ordered for you or even better and ask them what your CG limit is?!

If they have ordered you a full auth visa debit. I would suggest you wait 6 months in-between each application as they would normally suggest. As it may look abit dodgy multiple applications in a short space of time.

Tried to phone them, first women said she can't access that information I would have to contact the branch, 2nd Guy saids its a Visa Debit card with no Cheque Guarantee limit as they don't come with them as its a cash card !. So back to square one, not even sure if its worth telling the branch or not.

Im not sure the branch will be able to assist they would possibly just recommend making an application for one if theres no pre approval available.

You know i have completely given up trying to understand these cards. It seems like every person you speak to either doesn't know which card they are meant to have, or has the wrong one, worse still Natwest themselves don't seem to have any idea which cards they are issuing thier customers & every person you speak to tells you something different, one says it is a CG card, then the next person says it isn't.

What exactly is the confusion among Natwest staff members about these cards? Are they supposed to have the CG or not? Are they meant to be blue? Are they meant to be purple? I just don't get it anymore.

The Blue Visa debit card replaced Solo, the Purple one has Servicecard 100 on it and replaced Maestro.

Can you provide a source to substantiate this please? I can obtain no information to that effect from Natwest themselves. They don't even seem to be able to tell me what the difference between the cards is.

The purple one is shown on the Natwest Web Site............

    http://www.natwest.com/personal/current-accounts/g4/cards/yourcard.ashx

It has Servicecard 100 on the Right Hand Side, the call centre told me the Blue one replaced Solo and the Purple Maestro, and further went on to say the Purple has a £100 or £250 CGC limit were the blue has none.

It also seems to depend alot on who you speak to as some don't seem to have a clue (And that's putting it mildly).
  • A bit off the subject as I know but the main (And really only problem) I have with the blue Visa Debit is that you cant use it at pay @ Pump, so I now understand it is what as known as a 'Full Authorisation card' so you can't use it at Pay @ Pump, so today I tried my Barclays Connect debit card (On a cash account I never use and have £10 in it) and guess what it worked !, in fact it told me I could fill up with £100 of fuel !, when I came back home and checked Barclays Internet Banking it had authorised £1 only !, so why on earth does one bank let you go effectively £90 overdrawn (Only £10 in bank could fill up with £100) and the other one you can't use the card even though there are both 'Full Authorisation' ?.
