I have just checked and the website is still showing 110-085 as an HP Printer reduced by 80% from £99.99 to £19.99.  I have copies of the screenprint for legal purposes - I suggest everyone else take copies while they can.
If Index deliver me a cable then I shall insist they send me the printer, or I will be contacting Trading Standards and my legal expenses insurer.
As far as I can see they clearly offered me a printer, I accepted, and the transfer of funds constitutes legal closure of the contract.  I don't think they can wheedle out of the contract by sending you a different item to the one they advertised.

I have just rang up customer services to check if my printer has been despatched.

Index customer services have received a memo regarding this item - the operator read it out - something about there being a mistake regrding this item and that is should be a freecom 64mb memory stick. The actual cat no of the printer should read 110-185, but that is out of stock (suprise, suprise!)

She said refuse the order , get a barcode from the driver then we will refund the amount.

Seems like we have another gamecube type situation on our hands!!

Is everyone going to stick together and kick up a stink about this?

It's all sounding a bit fishy to me.
People have been told it's a printer cable and now it's supposedly a memory stick.
    :)
  • Just spoken to customer services and was told my order had been cancelled. The price of the printer was a mistake on the website and everyone who placed a order for this item is being sent a letter explaining the reason why. I myself will be contacting watchdog, To be honest i don,t believe a word they have said to me.

The suspense is killing me. Maybe we'll get a printer and a camera?

    ;D ;)

N.B. I'm not making light of it if anyone thinks I am.

[Edited, because for now I am making light of it.

    I won't if it's a cable!]

Had my NTL connection off for most of yesterday and its on and off today, so just catching up reading my fav site!
I was told it was some sort of leed , the chap did go into detail of what it was , but I didnt want one anyhow so didnt realy take in exactly what it was, it wasnt a printer leed, think that got added on here somewhere in a chinese whispers sorta way.
I just checked the origianal link, It STILL takes to the printer at £19.99 . If it can come up as a printer with a picture and a description on there website AND people are getting emails confirming PRINTER order then they have some serious problems with there procedures.
The way the page displays it looks like a genuine reduction rather than an error. Surely with an error, especialy a company of this size, they should of fairly swiftly ammended website and sent emails saying very sorry we messed up with the printer/leed thingy blah blah and maybe even a £5 voucher as a goodwill gesture.
Am not gonna loose any sleep over it, my origianal order is canceled anyhow. Woolies get my vote for "top of the tree award" (yep a whole shop up there now ;D ....... ) for handling mistakes.
Nope.... Still cant think of owt interesting to put here.
