I'm in exactly that position, I don't have an account number yet so perhaps my account is not "open"
Just have to withdraw my £1 and look elsewhere unless they remain top of the table. A bit annoying having the main lump of savings waiting in a current account. I'm considering putting it back into Coventry for Christmas. Luckily HSBC and Cov do the faster payments.
I guess if they do deem my account open the 6 months is ticking away with only £1 in it.Stompa0 -
Don't rely on it as I don't know any better than anyone else, but I would have thought if we'd returned the Account Opening Form - Pathway Account and it had been received last week with the deposit, we're "in". Whether an opening deposit of £1 as opposed to £10k would make a material difference I don't know, but someone did say earlier in the thread they'd been told it was OK.
Edit: my deposit cheque hasn't been presented today either, and they had it last Tuesday.~cottager0 -

Let's hope it's one of those accounts that tells you the current interest rate when you log in.Stompa0 -

Why they and others don't, I've no idea... surely not too much to ask these days, nor to implement. It's such a useful feature at Halifax.~cottager0 -
You can only withdraw maximum £10k per day.
Easy access?
Yes, easy access my !!!. I've had similar trouble with HBOS, they only let me move a maximum £10k a day too. Its a joke! They say its for security etc thats bull. Its about their profiting from hanging on your your money for a few more days when the rates drop and you can't get it out.0 -
Well, based on my wife's account which actually exists, it looks like the opening date is deemed to be the date the £1 (or whatever) opening cheque is paid into the account, not the date you applied (which is obviously going to be earlier).
The 3.35% rate is still very good, though, so I'm not sure it's a reason to bin the account.0 -
Stompa: for info, my cheque's been presented today.~cottager0

Was yours a £1 cheque?
Sorry no, full amount. Also since posting, three letters have come today (post very late) with account details, PIN etc. Card apparently on its way.
Edit: 2 letters dated 18/12, the other 19/12.
You might try phoning them? -- I did last week (not about this) and they were very helpful.~cottager0
