Applied for an account on the phone two weeks ago, received paperwork in two days. no Id required. Signed the form and sent back with 10k cheque last week. Called them up yday saying what is the status of the account and was advised that the money was credit to the account on friday...received account no and sort code today in post....no problems so far....

In the current climate this account looks outstanding so I'm puzzled there doesn't seem to be more interest?

I applied last week & am about to send back the signed application form & cheque.

Indeed, I've just applied this morning. I do wonder though how long they'll maintain this interest rate.

Yup, applied Tues night. Hope the paperwork might be here tomorrow then I could get it off before the weekend. I didn't chance the £1 deposit -- I know from this thread it's worked for some, but didn't want to risk delay or refusal if it was returned, so said I'd be sending a £10k cheque. Yet another SD fee then [sigh...].

I did. I'm pretty sure that during the online application process it specified a minimum deposit of £1, though I realise elsewhere it talks about a minimum initial deposit of £10k. Fingers crossed!

  • The opening minimum deposit of £10,000 no longer applies you can open it with £1

In which case, I wonder why their website hasn't been amended accordingly?
