  • Hi all

No. 82 checking in again. I've taken all the excellent advice you all gave me when I had my "low" earlier in the month and I'm pleased to say that I've paid my £40 over payment and managed to add another £20 to that from savings on my shopping and general prudence! It's a small amount but perfectly formed!

    Thanks y'all

    No.93 reporting in.
birmingham midshires has taken the mortgage payment out today! its supposed to be the 29th May, so I have been jumping up and down waiting for it to go out, so I can update my balance. Don't they realised I'm on mission? lol.

Anyhoo, my figures now stand at : secured 108606.80 and unsecured 2033.98 = 110640.78.
So my overpayment for this month is £662.00 and my total so far is £5109 of a target of £6k so 85% of the way there.

I am hoping to continue the same overpayment to the end of the year but with a little DS due in August this may well change, hence the big push to get to my target before I go on maternity leave.

Good luck to everyone in their mortgage free quest.

    Hello

Another overpayment of £1000 now showing against the mortgage. We are considering getting the mortgage down to £10000 then paying the lot off using savings. We would still have savings left but it is a big decision I like the security a healthy savings pot!

oops - forgot to sat £40 overpayment for this month now taken out of the bank, so now £241 for the year so far

I'm with Santander/Abbey too, if you want to make a regular overpayment, write to them in Newcastle at the Mortgage head office and ask them to increase your payment.
If you ask them, they will also give you the sort code and using your account number can overpay that way too. I overpay by £40 per month and then if I have any spare, I can do it via online banking. Maybe the person who spoke to you wans't in the mortgage section. Try again. Use me as an example as it can and is being done!!
Well done on making this big step. I wish I had known about it years ago instead of in the last couple of years, but I have reduced it and waiting for my pay rise to increase the dd.
Mortgage free as at 1/9/13 :j
To start work on the credit cards now!!
