Good news: A week off work
I'm hoping for lots of sunshine
Bad news: OH has been told he will definitely lose his job this summer
Being positive: I know we can afford the bills on my income if we're careful.
Being negative: Very few jobs around at the moment. OH feels rotten. OPs will drastically drop if he doesn't find another job. Any unexpected bills e.g. car repairs will need top be paid for from our OP reserve.
I'm focusing on the positive so far. Things have a way of working themselves out (as my Mum says).2016 MFW OPd £2000, 2015 MFW OPd 3000 then bought new bigger house with bigger mortgage.Beautiful boys born May 2011 and October 2013

Hello all!
Been a bit neglectful on this thread but very well done to all of you! :T And good luck to those of you who have had some unexpected challenges thrown in the way.....where's that fingers crossed smiley?
Ok so scores on the doors for #20. First month for a long time where we've managed to save and OP. Firstly had forgotten that I'd upped the basic mortgage payment by an extra £50pm wef March, so had forgotten to include that in my declarations for both March and April. Also had a nice payment from Topcashback as a result of changing our Home Insurance back in December.
May OP = £738.79 (this includes the 2x£50 from March & April that I'd forgotten to declare).
We won't be seeing another figure like that for a while, a spate of birthdays will run into school summer holiday expenses then quick break away and before we know it back to insurance payments then....well I'm not even going to mention the 'C' word this early in the year!
Keep up the good work everyone :T

Hey MFW people! Number 171 reporting in for May with an OP of £475.
Had my work bonus for last year but thought it wise to put it aside incase the car that's on 152000 miles decides to call it a day!
Don't think we're going to overpay in June as I quite fancy a little holiday - does anyone else feel a bit guilty when spending on things like holidays, when you know you could be overpaying with that money instead? It's so hard to get the balance right!

Its true but we all need to get away sometimes. Im trying to do it by not having to put anything on ccs so debt does not increase.MFW 2016 No 68 £1300/£8500 No new toiletries Cook sth different0

Try to get a happy balance otherwise it'll become a slog. Check out good deals and make sure you get any holiday in a MSE way.....depending on who you book with, see if you can use one of the cashback sites and then when that money comes through use it to OP the mortgage....conscience clear

No. 19 May Update.
Overpayments for May are £740.
I sent across another £200 on Friday but it hasn't reached the account yet, so I'll add that to June.0 -
Morning Folks,
Another month, another overpayment! All perfectly on track thus far so the tale of the tape reads:
Mortgage Payment - £827.06
Interest - (£21.99)
Overpayment - £1,819.93
Total payment - £2,668.98
New balance - £15,750
Somehow we've managed to get to a fairly comfortable position this month which, with a bit of extra money due in the next couple of months from the marking of exam papers that the girlfriend volunteered for then we can potentially cut the mortgage term by one more month - I'll make that call later in the year but it looks promising thus far!
Cheers,
