Just logging in to record that the normal payment went out today and so my balance is £16011.21 - this means it will be under £12 k by the end of July, but I am not sure that I will make the target of clearing it then. I have £5500 saved towards redemption but with only three months to go I don't think I will save the other £7k I will need by then. I might have to get DH to let me take some out of an ISA. Our mortgage rate is 4.94% and the ISA is paying 3.1% so I still think this would be a good idea, although DH may take some convincing! I think that psychologically it will be good to be mortgage free and we will soon make up the difference - in seven months we will have put the money back into savings.

Anyway, whatever happens we will be MF by the end of this year! Keep up the good work everyone - you are an inspiration!

I've made some effort to clear my mortgage, it has gone from 67K a in 2005 to around 27K that it is at the moment, the problem I have is that the mortgage interest is currently 0.68 so for the last year and a half it hasn't been worth paying anything but the bare minimum. I do have 20k or so in savings so as soon as the BoE puts up rates significantly I'll pay the rest of the mortgage off. :j

Great work on paying off over £250k!!!!Lets definatley aim for the £1m!!!!

I have paid £30.24 so far this month, but there is more to go from the mortgage piggy.

If all goes well this year, I might aim for the max £500 per month next year!!!
