Do you normally get the mortgage statement in Jan? Ours never came?

Wilsons - it depends on your mortgage provider. Some send out a statement in January, but others send them out on the anniversary of when you took out the mortgage - so if you took it out in let's say June, that's the month you will receive your annual statement.

Frugal Living Challenge 2025 Mortgage free as of 1st August 2013
  • Well folks, another £690 paid this month leaving me with just £3,650 to pay until my mortgage is clear.

I had intended to pay for a new kitchen over the next few months with a 0% purchase credit card. However, the kitchen supplier/installer has no facilities for me to pay by CC. Thoughts are borrow £10k overpayment back or use 10K from savings. Don't really want to do either has planned to be MF this year.

I could just buy the kitchen units/ appliainces etc and do myself.

Your thoughts on how I fund this are welcome.

Keep up the good work everyone.:)

Made an overpayment of £300 today towards the mortgage and the normal payment will be paid out this week also. Hopefully will make another small payment later on in the month, if I do not spend too much on birthday presents and me going out for my birthday - No 15 reporting in.
    MFIT T2 Challenge - No 46
    Overpayments 2006-2009 = £11985; 2010 = £6170, 2011 = £5570, 2012 = £1290
  • Hi Guys

Am thrilled to announce that tomorrow a payment will leave my current account as mortgage OP to the value of £354 (I realise that's small fry compared to other OP's on here - but I'm still chuffed). On top of Jan's OP this will mean I've OP'd £559 so far this year out of my target of £2k. So am in front of target at present although next couple of months will be smaller OP's.

    OP's have been financed by:-
    A little extra income
    Xmas Present of cash
Surplus money on Account balances incl. money not spent on Clothes or Toiletries!
    HBOS Reward Payments
    Council Tax not paid!

I've been OP'ing a little most months since Jun 08 but since taking part in a challenge I've found it motivating and it helps keep me just that little bit more focussed. Thanks everyone!

You need to treat yourself with gifts of cash. It's only once a year, so be good to yourself :)
