Can I join in please? :)

Target is to overpay £8000 by 31/12/10.

    Many thanks :)
  • I'm currently pondering if I should overpay or not...

My interest rate is 0.89% above base rate and I have 53k-ish left and 23 years to go. Would I be better of putting money into a high interest account instead.

    Your thoughts are appreciated

    Thanks guys

Yes, you probably would be better off putting the money in a higher interest rate account. However, if you are a tracker be careful to ensure that you only have an easy access style account or at most a tie in for a year. This way if mortgage interest rates go up you can move the money quickly into the mortgage. If rates increase, savings rates most likely rise in which case you don't want to be tied into a low fixed rate savings account.

What a week for me, car needed two new tyres, hubby broke a tooth and needs a crown and the kettle has broken too. Still on course to get to the end of the month without withdrawing anything from OP's we've made so far though...... :D

    Happy moneysaving all.
  • Oh dear but at least there is no council tax to pay as well :j
    Hope things get better.

No: 154. Sorry - I didn't confirm how much I wanted to overpay by....I can pay up to £6000 (as I'm on a 10 year blinking fixed rate - duh!) but will probably be able to OP £4000 but I will do my best to pay as much as poss!

Thanks for adding me - I need the group support to pay as much as poss! :-)
