Have FINALLY managed to make my first overpayment of 2010, after what seems like an age of twiddling my thumbs while I waited for payday, and being jealous of everyone else's OPs!!:o:D :rotfl:
So I'm off the mark with a nice fat juicy £700 for January
Also realised I didn't declare a target figure, other than clearing the mortgage asap! I reckon without any OPs my balance would be around £4000ish by the end of the year, so that's my goal, to overpay £4000 in 2010.
Can't believe we're already over the £100k mark!! At this rate we'll make the £million for sure!MFiT-T5 #52 - aiming to clear mortgage completelyJanuary 2019: £19620 ~ November 2021: £0.00!0 -
Yay!!
Just won £100 will put that towards my mortgage, should I wait til Feb or do it now??
Also have £50 cash spare this month that will go with it.
Woo! I'm still buzzing!!Mortgages Oct 2020: £308,283 Jul 2021 £286,600 October 2022 £253,456 MFW-22 #9 MFIT-T6 #350 -
I paid off the last of my other debts today, so now all that is left are the mortgage accounts; all he says, as though it isn't a huge figure! I'd like to join in, a little late in the month perhaps but I'll target £9,000 as it is both my wife and I that will be raising the money for the OP; large enough to be a challenge but not so large as to make it impossible (I hope).
So, that leaves me 6 days to raise £750; eek, perhaps I should lower the target. Sod it, I'll keep it at £9,000 and make up January's OP across the year.
Long meandering post over, please put me on the list and wish us luck
I know that I finished clearing all my other debts in January so said I wouldn't be able to make an OP, but I couldn't let the side down by having nothing to show; so I'm proud that this newbie reports in:"No. 151 reporting, sir! £43.39 OP for January, sir!"MFW 2010 - No. 151 - £583.39 of £9,000 OP Target (£540 so far for February 2010)0 -

Monthly overpayment has gone through today of £1108.41. Thankfully mortgage rates didn't change, fingers crossed for next month - not sure this rate of payment can last for much longer, certainly not if mortgage rates increase.0

Decided to pay in £150 today (otherwise I'd have frittered it away this weekend!)
Let's hope February brings more OP's
Congrats to everyone - at this rate we'll be at a million by November!!!!!Mortgages Oct 2020: £308,283 Jul 2021 £286,600 October 2022 £253,456 MFW-22 #9 MFIT-T6 #350 -
A million??????? Is that all we are aiming for????
I think we should be aiming for 2 million and ten thousand pounds!!!!!
I've noticed this forum is so much busier than it was in April last year when I first started reading it. There are more posters and more people viewing. I'm certain that we can outstrip last years amounts due to the number of people involved (although I recognise that low interest rates contributed a lot last year and so any rise may be detrimental to our aim).
So, lets aim to double our efforts and go for an amount connected with 2010!0 -
No 20 reporting in.
£280 overpayment for this month
Rather poor but it's the month for house & one car insurance and paying out for a lovely holiday....gotta live a little.....:D
Next month WILL be better, have reviewed our life cover and added the difference onto our monthly amount and there are no Water Rates or Council Tax. Am also expecting either a rebate or a reduction on our phone DDM so that will go into the pot too.
First month nearly under our belts, well done all MFW2010ers! :T

Oh heck, just seen my target is £5K _pale_
Will sit in corner and write 'must try harder' 100 times.....or perhaps I'll just nip over to the comps board and try to win it! :rotfl::jMFWin3T2 No 20 - aim £94.9K to £65K:j
