Decembers overpayment will be 8552 due mainly to a change to offset mortgage. Off to find cheap stuff on EBay for Christmas presents, and some road kill for christmas dinner.
Am I taking this all too far?:rotfl:

Number 95 reporting in for December. Firstly, many thanks to Cake for running such a good thread and also to everyone that has posted whether you have hit your tatget or not. We are all that bit closer than we were at the start of the year, with many having ditched their burdens for good.
This month we have overpaid by £600, lower than I had thought but we have changed our goals yet again! So that £600 brings us finally under £40,000 for the first time and we should end the year at £39,918. Not too bad as we started the year at £66,000. So now we have reached that milestone next year we will be putting any overpayments into savings rather than the mortgage as we can make more on our money this way. As soon as rates change we can just pay off a lump sum if it is more advantageous to do so.
Have a great Christmas everyone and a great 2011.So far: Council Tax downgrade success and £1,000 refund | Mortgage redemption refund £25.00 | Lightspeed £65.00 | Pigsback £30.00 | Quidco £130.00 | Topcashback £405.00 all courtesy MSE
MFW #95 Mortgage at Jan 2010 £66,000 OP Target for 2010 £23,850 OP so far £23,200.00 Balance now £39,9180 -
No.93 reporting again.
Well we have sent a cheque for £1000.00 to Birmingham Midshires against our residential mortgage, our next payment is due out on the 30th December so this will bring our secured part of the mortgage down to under 100K before year end. woohoo!
I have also contacted the Chelsea BS with regards to the BTL mortgage on our apartment, We have new tenants in now and they want to have the place on long term. The Chelsea says that outstanding is £70039, so I have made a debit card payment of £200 today to bring that to just under £70K.
Getting there slowly but surely.
Im thinking about a target for next year, but Im currently on maternity leave, go back in June 2011, we have a DD whos 2 in Jan and DS who is 17 weeks, and we both work for public sector so Im worried about our jobs, OH has called today to tell me that VR letters are being issued before comp redundancy. If we both lost our jobs we would be in sh!tcreek without the paddle, at least the mortgage is the only debt, thanks to MSE. I think that we are not the only ones in this situation, and think that we'll be doing some cut backs in the new year.
enough waffling on about doom and gloom.
Thanks again to Cake for all your hard work,
Merry Christmas everyone and a prosperous new year to you all.0 -
