Banks really get my goat when they do that. I get so fed up of ours sending letters all the time offering loans, and every time i set foot in the branch it is 'you haven't had a financial review in a while.' The best was the in-laws gave us a sum towards the DIY we are doing in the house. It was paid into the current account, and when it arrived i moved it straight to savings but i still got an urgently contact us letter. I wouldn't mind if it were ever useful or helpful, but i wouldn't touch there other products with a barge pole, and we only do our current banking there really as i can walk to the branch as it is only half a mile away.
Vultures really aren't they preying on those who don't know better.0 -
If your mum is still within the cooling off period of the loan perhaps she could cancel it and rearrange to have the smaller amount instead?
I don't understand it myself really - surely people are capable of saying no to things they don't want.
I had a financial review with Lloyds TSB and I was surprisingly impressed. They were friendly, and yes they did tell me a bit too much about their products, but that's what I'd expect - after all it's an hour of time you're spending with an employee of Lloyds for free and it's in their best interests that you keep your money with them. I guess perhaps people are lulled into thinking it's impartial financial advice.. ?
p.s. no, I don't work for them

I had to ask them not to do that 5 times before they got the message. I find it most impertinent, esp as the person behind you in the queue can hear every word they're saying. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
