Jamiedodgers Debt Diary

Hi all.
Following the latest trend, I am starting my debt diary. Ive had an bad few months this year, and I have let things slip, which has set back my DFD.
Being the 1st June today (although June for me doesnt start until 5th as I get paid on Mondays) I thought I would make a start:
Next weeks expenses £80 (June week 1) will be going towards paying off credit card. I now have £200 in savings for emergencies, so I feel confident enough to move my expenses money off the debt instead.
I have about £25 coming from quidco which will be paid straight off the overdraft.
For the rest of June I will be trying to pay at least £50 per week of £80 expenses money to pay off debt, and put the rest in the expenses account.
Fingers crossed this will have made by the end of June a dent in the debt. I havent got anything left to sell on ebay so I will have to start the grocery challenge and see if I can make a small saving there and re-direct towards to debt too.
I am aiming for 12 months to clear the lot. With a DFD of June 2007. Hopefully, she says.

Jamie,
Sorry to hear youve had a rough couple of months, but very glad you are back. Your efforts made me think, cor if she can do it damn sure I can, so maybe lets motivate each other.
And if you could pop up your flapjack recipe too that would be lovely, when you have time, of course.

Hmmm flapjacks......might make some today, my kids love them with cherries in.
8oz oats
6oz butter
6oz demerara sugar
melt butter until liquid (i do it in micro)
mix oats and sugar
pour in butter
stir well (add cherries at this point)
pour into baking tray, quite a small one about 2 inches deep
pat down with back of spoon
bake gas 6 15-18 mins
voila

JAMIEDODGER, good luck with your debt.
I use the same flapjack recipe but with mashed bananas. Maybe a silly question but is it real cherries you use or glace cherries. I was going to buy real cherries today and they were really expensive so I just left them.
Thanks0 -

Hi Jamiedodger,
Doesn't it feel good having some backup funds - well done! - I try to keep about 200 - 300in my bank account as a reserve while paying off debt. I hope the year goes quickly for you and you reach your goal and then you will be able to target your saving funds.
I will be trying to keep the same momentum going for savings from next month, as I have been doing for debt, until I have about a minimum emergency fund of 1500 then I can scale back slightly and heave a sigh of relief!2.00 COIN CLUB = £36.00  ! [/SIZE]
