The harsh truth about Tory policies

The only time I could agree with them is outside of schools etc. But in these zones I would like to see specs. Not just a silly camera which watches your speed over 20 feet.
I would simply like to see more police on the roads. Maybe even more unmarked cars. If I wanted "speed" and dangerous driving, I certainly wouldn't want more unmarked cars!!!
Why just schools? Don't the rest of us pedestrians also deserve to be protected against speeders?0 -

So you'd be OK with a police officer doing you for 83 mph on the motorway, just not the camera?0 -

Pedestrians shouldn't be in the road to begin with......
That's what pavements are for.;)
And if you really insist on crossing a busy A-Road or the like at a blind bend instead of a nice long clearly visible straight, which is really the only time you could concievably have a grudge against speeders, then you probably deserve a Darwin Award anyway....“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

Can someone tell me how much people get in benefits? I thought it was a titchy amount of money? Why are posters making it sound like people on benefits live in Kenington & Chelsea.A generous amount of money - are you taking the P!!!.
You have to take into consideration that accommodation costs are taken care of as well as allowances for food, clothing etc. and there is no loss of earnings to income tax. Many full time earners are not able to make enough to pay for all of these and therefore would not be able to leave the parental home if they didn't have children and thus qualify for accommodation and benefits.
A friend of my daughter having become homesless by no fault of her own was told, when she went to her local housing dept, there was nothing they could do for her if she wasn't pregnant!!
I'm sure there are people living on benefits in every borough across the land, Kensington and Chelsea included! It's a lifestyle you could say is 'forced' onto many who would not otherwise be able to or want to have to earn enough to support themselves.0 -

As I said above I know someone who turned down a 20K a year job in the south east because they were better off on benefit. They have a kid and neither of the parents work.
Where I am in the south east a couple on beneift would get probably £1200 a month for house benefit if they have a kid, £300 a month each for job seekers allowance, no council tax, free school meals, free child care whilst they try and look for a job etc. Thats over 2k a month the quiv to nearly 35K a year if they worked and I'm sure there are more benefits that could be claimed.
I'm all for helping those who really need help but there is no way we should be living in a society where being on benefit is easier than working especially when the country is so close to being bust.
Yes tax loopholes for the rich etc need to be closed off but we also have to have a system where the poor with real needs get the benefits and not the lazy chancer who cannot be bothered to work.0 -

Im in the southeast and pretty much agree with all you say except councils (say) housing benefit is awarded on how many children you have as to the size of house needed and as such with 2 children they won't pay much more than about £700 per month......with 1 child they would not get funding for more than a 2 bedroom house...In my area a 2 bedroom house would be about £650 a month.0 -

Do the 'chancers' have to be lazy to earn our scorn and contempt?
Am just wondering about the (hundreds of) thousands of middle class gentlefolk, usually self-employed, who casually underdeclare their earnings to the taxman.
Similarly, the thousands of red-bracered financeniks in the City who think that what they do for a living is actually important.
Oh yes, not forgetting:

Let's keep a sense of balance here, eh, you frothing tory trolls..?0 -

The difference is Liz those "middleclass, gentlefolk ,usually self employed " as you call them may or may not do what you suggest, but theyve worked hard to earn the money, dole scrounging, chancers have not and thats a big f***ing difference........
Oh by the way,im self employed, working class and rent... whats your problem with self employed people Liz????0
