My advice is to report it the least that could happen is them being advised on their actions. Request an update from the police once you have reported them.Married 1st October 2015:heartpuls

Yes - I too believe that they will get their commupence.
The look on her face when she turned round to throw the coin was so evil. He looked a very nasty, nasty person.
I don't think these people are happy bunnies - pity their kids though.
Sorry to hear of your strife with the keying of your car.
Some nasty people around - thankfully we don't often have any problems, but a few horrid people go through their lives attempting to make everyone as miserable as they are.0 -

That's a stupid post. Even if OP's driving wasn't the best, threats of physical or verbal abuse should not be excused.
Crikey, if every time I had to take action to avoid an accident I was abusive, I would a right miserable g!t.0 -

Sadly, that is probably the most that would happen.0 -
Choille, some people on these forums seem to have nothing better to do than snipe at others. You have no need to apologise to such individuals, so please don't let that put you off posting.
I think you should report it to the police. You have nothing to lose, and whilst the majority of us have suffered idiots on the road before and treat it as c'est la vie, these idiots cost lives. It's worth doing.
Your OH probably just wants to forget about it so certainly if you do report them, stick them to the back of your mind afterwards. They're not worth getting upset about and you know it wasn't your fault.0 -

In the past 2 forces I have worked for (and still serving, I might add) they value 'customer focus' so I know that within these forces something would be done, possibly just advice unless of course there are other witnesses to it (meaning the OP would have had to get their details) and if it was reported as criminal damage.Married 1st October 2015:heartpuls

Some drivers just dont have no decency, theres always going to be soem idiots around who find it necessary to do the 1 fingered salute or shout abuse0

Yes of course there are idiots & we've all met them - it was the reckless speed, the aggression & the coin throwing that really shocked me.
You almost get used to foreigners driving on the wrong side of the road on the A9, and the young idiots in their souped up cars with little road sense, but this was a nasty malicious couple with ill intent.
No we didn't have witnesses Skintbuthappy. If it had been in our locality we would have reported it - the Police there are terrific - real community policing at it's best. Without other witnesses it won't even be given a number. too many police forces aren't as committed as your one - unfortunately.0 -
Fascinating that those who say "There's no point reporting it" also seem to be the ones saying "because probably nothing will get done".
People won't complain to the police (who could do something about it) but are happy to whinge in here (where no one can do anything about it)? How can you complain about the police's potential inaction when it's your inaction that is guaranteeing nothing will be done?
Even if the LEAST the police do is phone this idiot or pop around to see him, imagine his shock at being caught! This'll at least make him think twice about doing it again. All he's learnt from the OP though is if you break the speed limit, act aggressively and commit criminal damage, chances are you'll get away with it!
@ pineapple123: Horrendous story, but IF you didn't report it then that psychopath is only going to do it again. I don't think I'd want it on my conscience that someone was attacked because I couldn't be bothered to report it when it happened to me.0 -
I wonder too it it's worth reporting incidents like this?
Two years ago OH and were on the M1 on our way to Rotherham for the weekend and suffered road rage. I was glancing around whilst OH was driving and spotted a car behind us that was a beautiful shade of blue, as it passed us I pointed it out and we both agreed it was a lovely car.
Next thing we knew the car which was being driven by a burly looking bloke with tatoos and a woman pulled along side us, wound down the window and the bloke started shouting at us, "why are you staring at us?!" we tried to ignore him but he kept coming and shouting. We got stuck at road works and amazingly the guy stopped his car, walked up and tried to put his fist though my window! we drove off as soon as we could but the bloke managed to catch us and tried to force us off the motorway.
We were shocked and scared but had witnesses who in the cuffufle managed to stop and give us their mobile numbers and names so we could report the whole thing.
The car left the M1 at the next junction and I called the police straight away. They said they would look into it.....did they heck! They have the internet on computers now?! - Homer Simpson
