Sadly in my experience the Police show an utter lack of interest unless there are shedfulls of independent witnesses.0

Well I think we should too, but OH is not up for it -says the police are too busy chasing & arresting parents that have put their kids in to better schools outwith the area they live in or some such.
If it would have been in our locality - the local police would do something, but I doubt they would over there. So will just add that if you see a Silver Megane being driven like the bat out of hell then be careful, very careful.
Should post their reg on here - maybe?0 -

Thanks - accelerated - sorry, I knew it wasn't right, but for the life of me couldn't work that one out.
Must try harder.
Yes, I too think we should report them, but OH just keeps saying they will not do anything. Different if we would have had witnesses - I suppose.
A few years back we were in Inverness & this complete idiot in a very unusual vehicle did something unbelievable whilst driving through the middle of town. He was very vocal & shouted some vicious abuse - we had done nothing wrong - honest. We thought he must of been drunk. It was a wonder that he didn't knock someone over.
Going home we passed a garage & saw the vehicle parked up, so we went in & asked if they knew who the owner was of the vehicle at the back of the forecourt. The guy said oh, that's the owner of the garage. We asked to speak to him.
He was about 30 years older than the driver we'd seen. Seems his son had taken his Dad's car for a spin & boy was he going to get a talking to that evening & not be allowed to use his Dad's car again.0 -
I think the coin thing is really nasty stuff & I'm surprised that none of you seem that surprised at this behaviour - we've never known the like here.
I don't think it's that people aren't surprised, but if you're not prepared to report it to the police, there's not much more people can advise.
I'm not sure I understand your husband's point about the police being too busy with parents and schools etc - you can't know they won't do anything, and if you don't give them a chance, then you can't really complain. It might not lead to direct action, but they may well put a note on their system about it so that if anyone else complains they can build a case.
People often seem convinced that the police won't help them, but if you don't ask then you'll never know. Plus, as another posted said, if you wanted to claim on your insurance for the damage, then you will need to have reported it. Good luck whatever you decide to do.0 -
I would report it, but OH won't.
Several years ago we attempted to report something & it was not even taken note of. It was a complete waste of time & travel.
We won't claim on the insurance & the chip will just stay - not really bothered about that. It was the intent that kinda scared me.0 -
But you don't need your OH to report it - you can do it yourself without anyone's permission. I appreciate that sometimes the police don't seem interested, but if you then use that as a reason not to report things, then you're adding to the problem. Things might have changed in the years since your last encounter - there may be a crack down on dangerous driving in the area for example or any number of reasons why this time would be different. And I believe you can report it over the phone - you wouldn't necessarily need to travel.
To be honest, if you were scared, I would say that it's worth reporting - had it been someone more vulnerable, someone new to driving perhaps, then having a coin thrown at their car could have caused them to panic and end up with an accident, and if the person repsonsible is never reported, then the first time the police hear of them could be something much more serious.0 -
I agree with everything you say, but will just have to leave it.
I hope they are nervous as they will know we got the chance to take a note of their number, but it is hardly enough - I know.0 -

So what is the point of posting it on here then or even thinking about it any more? Just forget about it and get on with your life if your not going to do anything about it.0
