MONEY MORAL DILEMMA. Should Gwyneth give the lady her reduced steak?

Depends how old she is. I need the protein, as i am a fit middle-aged man with lots to do. If she needs only to curl up with her cat - I will keep the steak, and ... out of the goodness of my heart, buy her some sardines. 2 tins - one for her ... one for the cat! :0)0

Well, first of all it still belongs to the shop until it is paid for. Secondly, if the old lady wanted it she should have put it in her basket.
This may seem harsh but that's life.
However, if it was myself in Gwyneth's place I may decide otherwise depending on the womans attitude as I've had experience with little old ladies thinking because they're older they can do as they please and sod anyone else.
(I do love little old ladies really, I'll be one one day)0 -
We should remember that if the poor old lady very rarely has steak her digestive system will not react very well to a change of diet, especially as she is so old and frail. Also false teeth and steak are not a good combination.
With this in mind I'd keep it myself and do the poor old lady a favour at the same time - win/win.0 -
I wouldnt hesitate to let the poor old granny have it. Afterall, there will always be plenty more opportunities for me to get a cheap steakMortgage when started (Dec 2005): £120,000

Have we fallen so far that we would - almost unanimously - elbow aside a pensioner who is asking you for cheap food?
I would NOT snatch food away from an old person who had humbled themselves to ask me for it. I'm not starving, I'm not a savage - and no matter how hard done by I may think I am, I haven't yet fallen far enough that I would fight with an old lady over a reduced steak.
Where is dignity in all this? I would hand it over, no question. Most of those replying aren't pensioners, they haven't had to live on a fixed income for years and years, they haven't experienced age abuse (some of the comments on here!!! Some of the terms used! Hang your heads in shame!)
I feel disgraced for all of us. Is this what society has come to?
Please get a grip, I have a spare one!:D
I agree with you that there are many feral, greedy, selfish & ignorant people out there. Unfortunately they come in all shapes & sizes & AGES!
There are many out there who are in dire circumstances and apperances can be deceiving. I have seen poorly dressed pensioners fighting for bargains and then put them into their trolleys alongside expensive booze & food items, then climbing into their brand new merc's or bmw's.
I have lived on a very small fixed income for years & years. I do NOT live off the state & I have four kids to feed & clothe. So I'm afraid that in my situation I would politely, but firmly say that I was sorry but I was keeping the steak. I have walked the 3 miles to the nearest Tesco with my last four pounds in the pouring rain, in order to find bargains. I am not saying this for sympathy (won't get it here anyway), but to point out that poverty doesn't favour the old!

you snooze, you lose. The steak doesn't belong to anybody when it's on the shelf.0

Take the Steak but politely and cheerfully direct her to the 'tinned steak' section of the Supermarket! :rotfl:0

Perhaps you could let the old dear put it in her trolley and then nick it back out again when her back is turned...0

I am very much of the mind of "you snooze you lose!". The ol dear needs to learn to speed up a touch, maybe get some cod liver oil in her??
Dont be fooled by old ladies, they are a dangerous breed who will take you for all you are worth, so not much from me but you might be wealtier so take care!!RetailINSIDER :snow_laug0 -
