Best paid anti virus?

Of all the comparison tables I've ever seen. Kaspersky has had the highest detection rate most of the time.
I like (and use) Nod32 as well, but I regard Kaspersky as a better detection software on a standalone basis.
For most users, the free antiviruses, along with adequate protection will do the job (paid, or unpaid, antiviruses alone are not enough nowadays). How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

I want to get rid of my Norton now that it's coming up for renewal, and I hear that AVG is very good. Any other that I should to download as well?
And is it true that Norton is hard to get rid of?Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -

Some people have had problems clearing Norton off their system. I've switched a couple of systems that had used Norton for years, I didn't hit one single glitch.
Use Add/Remove programs first, then if you still have a problem, come back to the forum and the removal tools will be posted for you.
Do not presume that you need them from the outset. Many people have uninstalled Norton without the need for them (as much as the Norton detractors would lead you to believe). How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

I would get rid of Norton but just before you do download.
AVG for your Antivirus or Avast.
And a Firewall Sygate or Kerio are quite good.
And Adaware and Spybot search and destroy.
But what you need to do is download the above, go offline, unistall Norton then restart PC still offline tho, then install Firewall first, then go online and then install the rest.0 -
I understand that NOD32 is in fact THE top performer as an AV. I use AVG myself but a family member is now a UK agent for NOD32 and quotes the facts and figures which seem quite definite! As to Kaspersky, I work within a very technologically advanced University:T that has chosen Kaspersky and I am constantly having problems when I use my memory stick there and then bring it home with data on it! However my AVG seems to sort it all out.;)0

I use PC-cillin Internet security suite and I have noticed that a seller is selling Kaspersky anti-virus for 0.99p on e-bay. Is Kaspersky easy to use, what else do I need on the computer. Currently I have spybot, spyblaster, bit defender and crap cleaner. I have always used PC-cillin and am ready for a change now esp at that price. Thanks0 -

I got mine from the US site and got it cheaper than from the UK site no VAT etc, if I remember it was $39 which is about £20 - not bad for a number one product
On my other pc's I run Avast, which is free.
I used to use F-prot, very fast and used to be free, for the free version there are scripts available to help get updates regularly rather than having to manually download them.BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!

I'm surprised that you have problems with Kaspersky. I can only think that it is not being kept up to date.
I've seen Kaspersky top the list of detection rates many times over the years. It certainly beats both Nod32 and AVG in detection rates in these three tests (and many others I've seen over the years).....
TEST 1
TEST 2
TEST 3
It's a falacy to believe that any one antivirus is the 'best'. They all work in different ways, and the best antivirus is one that works well for each of us. I currently use Nod32 (64bit), Avast, and Norton on different computers, and don't have a problem with any of them. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Also just remember that some of the results on so called test websites to see how good a piece of AV could be biased depending on who sponsored the testing who wrote the review and reports by users, A lot of AV review websites are quite misleading and not worth their salt.
Lol just found this I like the subject History and how the Apple Dos had the first ever virus :rotfl:0 -

This can be the case, though I think there has to be some basis of truth when you consistently see a product beating others over a range of totally unrelated test sites. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
