And how many days has this place been open..?

Sounds a bit like the deliverance bits of the north east - they were queueing round the block when the chippie replaced deep-fried mars bars with twixes...

I made that up, but pubs, bars and restaurants had regular re-fits (mostly due to 'changes of management'), and the 'new' one was always heaving for a few weeks until the next 'new' one opened - one had, apparently, to 'be seen' at the 'in' places (no, I dunno either...).

I had a steak and a baked potato at the Malmaison last weekend, that was £45. The bill for two of us for two courses and a nice bottle of wine was £140. Very tasty meal it was too.

I guess there are some places you can blow your dosh easily but £45 for a bit of steak and a spud?

C'mon a Wattwiller has to be worth £3.50 (and probably takes your mind of the rest of the bill).

Went to Yo Sushi tonight in Aberdeen.

A line out the door and a 25 minute wait for seats.

£67 for food for two people, and a drink each.

Still a line out the door when we left.

Very few signs of a recession in Aberdeen......

Yes no doubt it was busy. Combination of things, but enjoy it whilst it lasts, until the deflationary powers overcome attempts at fighting off the required correction in house prices.

I don't know much about the restaurant scene Aberdeen but even in a total HPC and depression, some business owners targeting disposable wealth will fare quite well.

Maybe not Yo Sushi but going into a full depression there will remain genuinely wealthy people in Aberdeen who don't want to mix with the general riff-raff, or slum it at Pizza Hut or fish and chip shop, and will be willing to pay a premium for their food and service.

BTW.. vacancy for Assistant-Manager job at Yo-Sushi in Aberdeen. Salary £22,000. Also on other job vacancy websites as well as recruiting for other restaurant staff at the same place.

I take it you this must be the first recession you have experienced during your 'adult' life.

Talking about slumming it at Pizza Hut, I went there on Monday night for a treat (parents treated us as they could see I have been a bit down since the not quite so good news on my eldest son)

My expectations are so low that to me Pizza Hut is a push the boat out, once in a blue moon kind of place.

Cost £31 for four of us including drinks plus desert for the two younger boys although I did use my student card to get 20% off.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Mal Maisons are outragously priced, had a B&B deal at once recently and had I needed to pay for my breakfast they would have taken £22 off me for a bacon roll and cup of coffee.
