The other punters were probably using vouchers http://www.yosushi.com/offers so got a discount. The MSE e-mail sometimes lists them as well.

I am very glad that everyone I know is still working. Some of the guys on building contracts have been laid off but have found other contracts. Another fellow is a painter and decorator and has found private work. Chap down our street got laid off but tells me that his e-bay business is doing enough to not have to get another job.
All this helps to make me happy.0 -

I'm not a big fan of Yo Sushi. IMO it's overpriced and not that good. But there aren't that many sushi places around so they can get away with it.
We've found a nice little pocket of Japanese run restaurants a short distance from our place, also Hare & Tortoise is decent.
Have to agree with the sentiment of "what recession" every time we eat out. Maybe it's living in London, but the places we eat (mid-range) seem to be doing quite well!0 -

Roka on Charlotte St - for good Japanese food and then pop downstairs for drinks.0 -
Eating out is something we enjoy. Going into the city at night is not. There is an expensive Indian in walking distance but as I have done some studying on Asian cooking my wife prefers me to cook. I use less salt. There is a pub in walking distance who seems to be getting busier. Mains from between a fiver and a tenner. Or we can walk to Witherspoons.
What is really sad is that a very nice young Iranian couple set up a very decent priced Iranian eatery. It was really good and we became friendly with them. Also they didn`t sell alcohol but were more than happy for you to pop to the late night Co-op next door and bring in what you want.
Suddenly, without warning, it closed. A real pity.0
