I've spoken to a guy called Nick today from Marmalade car club.
I rang them and was told "the person you need to speak to is not here"
They will ring you back.
2hrs later I got a phone call.
It seemed that they were embarrased about the whole affair, but were still operating. They offered me a couple of different card options and were consistent with what they are saying on their website and what's been reported on this forum.
Depending on further feedback from people on this forum, I may still take up their card.
Hope this helps, but let me know what you think....please :-)

Where's the victim of the con?
Womby, I was talking about the Marmalade card. I think that all of the problems encountered by these firms hints that some kind of cartel is in operation - it wouldn't come as a surprise to any of us would it? The Government isn't likely to want to look too hard into it, given the revenue that the exchequer could lose.
Think I'll investigate cooking oil and other bio-fuels - save money & save the planet.0 -
It's not as if people are going to stop driving
They won't especially when they find out the cost of alternative transport.Doh....each and every person across the country who has signed up for the card to date has been conned into believing they were going to have the card months ago!!!!!!!!!
Did anybody REALLY expect this to come to anything, and nothing other than a nice little dream?.
I signed up, didn't expect it to come to anything, and it hasn't so I wasn't disappointed.
as I see it, it didn't cost anything to sign up and had something of come of it, it would have just been a bonus.0 -
Hi,
I signed up when the scheme first came out, but then like the rest of you got a phone call stating the mix up. At that point I asked for my money back and was told it would be refunded. That was weeks ago and still nothing.
Today I called up and spoke to a guy called Tom who confirmed that yes I was down on their system and my file had a note saying that I was to be refunded. Tom said he didn't know why I still hadn't been refunded, but that he would get his boss to call me later today. He was polite and apologetic, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and see if anyone calls today.
I'll keep you all updated.0 -

Nothing from the Pipeline/Marmalade type of scheme. However, viable cheaper alternatives could make the percentage of tax more visible as being artificially high (if it weren't already visible). Any environmental justification for taxing fossil fuel would be gone if we were using vegetable oil derivatives.
Therefore, it's certainly in the Governments interests to keep things just as they are right now - we use the oil, the oil companies take their chunk and the Government takes theirs.
I can't think of too many oil companies who would relish the thought of a price war that these sort of schemes would undoubtedly start.
And if I felt conned by the promise of the Pipeline card, and spend my whole life feeling like a victim. Life is full of promises that don't materialise. I should know, I'm married :rotfl:0
